Review Buitenplaats Plantage Vogelenzang

July 23, 2016

I promised you that -after my series about Groningen city-, I would now show you around in Groningen-province. And I WILL!

But it’s summer now in Holland, at least for a few days, so I want to point out one of my favorite hotspots near Haarlem, especially recommended on a sunny day: Buitenplaats Plantage.

Visiting Buitenplaats Plantage in Vogelenzang was on my bucket list since a while. I finally managed to check out this place and went back for more twice already!

What is Buitenplaats Plantage Vogelenzang?

Buitenplaats Plantage is a F&B-place, housed in a huge greenhouse, surrounded by a big garden.

The focus here is on slow-food, local products, organic and fairtrade. Not my cup of tea, so extra positive that I liked the food anyhow;-).

They are open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks and bites.

When the weather allows it, you can opt to sit outside on the lounge benches or hang in a hammock.

My review of Buitenplaats Plantage Vogelenzang

I love, love, love the location, the ambiance and the decor.

Rustic decor in Buitenplaats Plantage |curlytraveller.com

Rustic and woodcabin-ish. I’m normally not that nordic or lumberjack-y, but this is done in a way that I like a lot.

You could describe the styling as Ibiza, boho, alternative with a creative/arty/handcrafty touch.

A wood-disk table. Love it!

They sell some organic products, there is a big table with lots of coffee table books on it and some of the furniture is for sale.

Slow-food at Buitenplaats Plantage also means that you have to be patient to be served and get what you order. They even ‘warn’ for that on their website.

I have been here three times now. Always for lunch, always on quiet days. Twice the weather was bad, so we sat inside. The third time the weather was gorgeous, so we sat outside.

The lampshade is part of a big cabinet, made by artist Sacha Vink. It’s for sale, but very pricey.

During these lunches, the food and drinks that we had were delicious, the service was friendly and the wait for our food was not that long.

I loooooove this lamp by Sacha Vink. It’s so cool and it would look so good over my dining table at home!!!

On Iens, the restaurant-review site, the opinions about Buitenplaats Plantage Vogelenzang are not all as positive. Maybe these customers were there during more busy hours? I don’t know.

All I know is that my own experiences were good, so I guess that you have to pay this place a visit yourself in order to decide wether you like it as much as I do…. or not.

With whom I was there and what we did

The first time I went with my two blogger friends Greetje and Sylvia. The ladies did a whole photoshoot, Greetje wrote a blogpost about the experience, we chatted, had lunch and had fun.

Check out the two GIFS I made of our photoshoot-adventures; you find them at the end of this post. Funny!

Then I went there with Frits, to celebrate his birthday. We had a lovely lunch with champagne, while it rained softly outside.

And finally I took my friend Ella to Buitenplaats Plantage. We took our lunch outdoors. I completely forgot to take her picture, but she did take one of me.

Have you been to Buitenplaats Plantage? Did you enjoy your visit?

Oh, and here are the two GIFs that I promised you. Hopefully they make you laugh;-).

In my next post we return to Groningen; this time to the countryside.

Funny… Good idea to make the gifs. I should have done that too. Really nice. And I agree with your opinion about this place. It is lovely and so is the food. So I gave them a good review on Iens.
