Travel Quote of the Day

I don’t know about you, but I have a love-hate relationship with quotes and proverbs. Sometimes I whole-heartedly disagree with a saying.

Some are so cliche that they annoy me, or that they lost all meaning. “A day without laughter is a day wasted.” To be honest there is not so much wrong with this Charlie Chaplin quote. Only nowadays too many people use it to describe their personality in dating profiles and such. And then it sounds similar to: “I like long walks on the beach and lying in front of the fireplace with a glass of wine…with you, of course!” Yawn, barf;-). These phrases have turned into empty cliches that reveal or mean nothing really.

Other times I am struck by how true, brilliant, wise, funny and/or helpful a quote can be. Original, poetic, intelligent, comforting….a good quote or proverb can be all of that and more. And then it makes me happy. Ok, I admit, and a bit jealous that I did not come up with it;-).

So, there you have it: quotes.

I named this series Travel Quote of the Day. But I allow myself to stretch that definition to: Great Quotes about Life in General. In fact: it’s my blog, so I can stretch it any way I want to;-).

Frequency: whenever I feel for it. Because again, as I just said: it’s my blog and…oh, you heard me the first time…ok then.

Set up: First I give you the quote. With a nice image, preferably a picture I took myself.

Then I reveal wether I agree with it or not and why. I also explain what it means to me. And finally I want to know from you how you feel about the quote of the day. Love it? Hate it? Why? What situation do you recall when this was very true or useful in your life?
