Musea & Exhibitions

I think this categorie on the blog is pretty self-explanatory, right? Musea, exhibitions and galleries;-)….

Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam

The Stedelijk Museum has gotten a new wing and I went there for the first time since then. There were some really cool exhibits.

Galleries, for me, have the highest threshold and are the most inaccessible and elitist. In general, that is, of course there are exceptions. The white, empty spaces can look intimidating, expensive and distant. The staff look like art-y fashionista’s. All making you feel more visible and more ‘watched’ then the art itself. It can make me feel very uncomfortable and self-conscious. But from time to time I force myself to overcome all that and to just go in and enjoy the art.

Croc in lily pond

I have seen several interesting and fun exhibits at the Art Science Museum In Singapore. The museum itself is gorgeous, as is it’s environment. The croc between the lotus flowers is there due to an exhibit on dinosaurs and all.

Exhibitions can be really great and there are a lot of wonderful musea out there.

Peranakan beaded pieces.

The Peranakan Museum in Singapore is a real gem! The bead art of the Peranakans is amazing!

Just type in musea, museum, exhibition or exhibitions in the search box in the right side bar on the blog and all relevant posts will pop up.

I’m SO sharing your view of elitist or bourgeois vibes from artists or curators. Art is for everyone and even “well- received” art can be extremely deep but I love watching the talents that come from the streets or humble beginnings, not only because I like to root for the seemingly undiscovered but because it seems so very honest and genuine.

I could not agree more, Elizabeth! Thank you so much for finding me and for taking the time and effort to leave a comment ‘with content’! Nice!
