Visiting South Korea
In 2014 I visited Seoul, Korea, twice, in a couple of months. The first time I stayed there 10 days and the second time 3 weeks.
Surprising Seoul
Seoul was a real surprise. A pleasant surprise, mind you! Ok, not that is was winter and that winter turned out to be bitterly, freezing cold. Really, really cold! You have no idea how cold.

This guide was a real life-saver. Ok, maybe exaggerated, but I did not feel my hands and feet anymore and could only shiver from the cold. So she gave me her hot pack. Man, I was so cold!
But apart from that…WOW!
Art everywhere
It seemed that there was art everywhere. In musea and galleries, on the streets, in parks and on walls. The whole city had a creative vibe somehow.
Lots of interesting architecture, old and new. Numerous tiny, quirky coffeeshops with quality coffee. Shops and restaurants everywhere. And the local tangueros and tangueras dance tango very well!
I wrote a whole series of posts about Seoul. Just type in Seoul in the search box in the right side bar of the blog and all relevant posts will pop up.
Seoul really is a hidden gem that I highly recommend for a long weekend or a short vacation of a week.
