I already gave you a sneak peak of River Hongbao 2016 in my previous post. Today I’m showing you my best pictures of the event.
Photo impression of River Hongbao 2016

Entrance gate to the River Hongbao site

Path leading to the Float where most of the lantern displays are found.

Another gate, leading to the massive lantern display with the Monkey King.

They really outdid themselves with this lantern tableaux!

The God of Fortune is a regular at River Hongbao and always huge in size.

The 12 Zodiac signs are also always present at River Hongbao. Some years their lanterns look pretty, other years less so. This year they all looked super fat and childish. I was not impressed by them. (We see the rat, the monkey and the dog)

I like this detail of a bigger display: an ‘uncle’ riding a trishaw. And look at the happy faces of his clients!

Other lanterns depict well-known Chinese folk tales, legends and characters.

Huge mural.

I really like this lantern!
In the picture above and in some of the other images from this photo impression of River Hongbao 2016 you see a cloud lantern. I adore these since years and would love to have a few of them at home. Imagine a couple of clouds floating above your couch; how cool would that be! There is a company, Petit Pan, that makes and sells similar cloud-lights. Due to their price (90 euros) I never bought any, but maybe I should, since I’m still in love…. Until then, I’ll just enjoy the ones I can see for free at events like River Hongbao;-).
If you want to see all this with your own eyes, be sure to visit River Hongbao tonight or tomorrow, since it ends after that!
I’m always amazed at the great photos you manage to take in difficult lighting situations. These all turned out wonderful.
Next time we are together I need a quickie camera course from you : )
bisous

Whenever my pictures by night happen to turn out good, this is mainly thanks to my wonderful small camera, the Canon Powershot. I can’t really take much credit for the results;-).
