Street art encounters in Hong Kong

October 27, 2013

In my previous article, I mentioned that I did not run into a whole lotta street art, while strolling through Hong Kong.
But ofcourse I found some; here they are:

Stencil robot.
Stencil baby in box.

As you can see there are different styles and techniques used: stencil art, sticker art, spray paint art, B&W, color, small, large…

Sticker; read about this artist on the web.
Ok, now this is probably just a poster, but I like it;-)
This huge piece, depicting houses, (on a wall next to one of the G.O.D. stores on HK Island,) is colorful and cool!

The following one looks beautiful, but there is an iron fence right before it, so I could not have a good look from where I was standing:-(.

In Memoriam. …..??? lives on. What does it say? The Spirit? Which spirit? Who’s image is that?

The last place where I found a whole lot of murals is Oasis, the former Central Market on HK Island.

They commissioned four artists to each paint one of the walls with their work. The pieces are huge and cool!

Oasis aka Central Market used to be a fresh food market and is housed in a Bauhaus building from 1938. The market is closed since 2003.

The building itself looks beautiful. I did not have a chance to go inside, but if I return to HK I certainly intend to. I think there are murals inside as well.

Tomorrow I will reveal where to find more street art in Hong Kong!

Apparently human beings have to express themselves. Art is in us. Nice to know.
