Xiang Jing @MOCA, Taipei

I was surprised about the shamelessness of the work, coming from China. The exposed vagina’s, the nakedness. Good that this kind of work apparently is possible in China!

This woman comes back on several spots in the exhibition.

The mirrors in the room and the sparse lights give this foot bathing group a spooky feeling.

In the mirror you see me, taking this picture.

Many of the women look a bit sick, sad, tired and/or empty.

Alien-like, but somehow it is intriguing.

All out of proportion with a way too big head and eyes.

I find it so cool, that you can take pictures and that the sculptures are very approachable. There were many young visitors and they took their time for up close and personal moments, like here.

This work is very strange. The girl seems to throw something at the doggie, represented in a long sort of rope or beam instead of an arm. At least, that’s what I make of it;-).

The doggie looks quite depressed…

Again many youngsters studying this installation.

And, ofcourse, girls interested in the doggie;-)

This woman is gigantic, filling up the whole room from floor to ceiling.

Besides these women there are two other types of sculptures present: animals and circus artists.

The animals did not impress me that much and the circus artists are well done, but not very special.

I find that the whole exhibition, meaning the sculptures themselves, the light, the way the works are positioned, is quite mysterious. Especially the bold and naked women. So yes, I am happy to have seen these works of Xiang Jing and I recommend that you check it out for yourselves, if you can.
