The Confucius Temple, Taipei

August 31, 2013

I know, I already portrayed several temples from Taipei. The Confucius Temple and the Baoan Temple are the last two, promise!;-)

The two temples are next to each other and have a totally different look and feel about them.

The Confucius Temple is very quiet, peaceful and clean.

It originates from 1879, but has been rebuilt later.

But it is a tad too modest for my taste. Look for yourself and tell me what you think. Do you prefer temples like this one?

Looking back at the pictures I have to admit that the pavillions and the decorations look pretty and harmonious. I guess it just felt a bit dead and uninspiring….

Let’s have a closer look at some of the decorations:

The decorations, especially of the supporting beams, is really beautiful. Lots of colors and variations.

This area is right under the landing course of planes going to the city airport. Planes fly over quite low regularly.

If you cross the street, you arrive at the gate of another temple, the Baoan Temple. A totally different type of temple and vibe. More about it in my next post.
