Where to go for coffee in Saigon - Part 2

April 16, 2017

In my last post I shared my explorations of the speakeasy cafe culture in Saigon with you.

As I explained in that same post, there is the perfect coffee for everyone in Saigon; street style, cheap, Vietnamese, speakeasy, big chains, expensive, hipster coffee places, cappuccinos and americanos…it’s all available.

Hipster coffee in Saigon

In ‘Where to go for coffee in Saigon - Part 2″ I’m showing you two cool coffee spots that we visited, both recommendable.

The first one is The Workshop.

This specialty coffee place is on the second floor of an old building….

Beautiful stairs and brick walls!

…. and the space is huge, light and high.

They say Saigon has become a hub for digital nomads and looking at all the locals AND non-locals working behind their laptops in cafes I believe that immediately.

I love the decor and the industrial look.

See all the silver pots for making drip-coffee?

They seem to specialise in drip coffee, let’s say Vietnamese coffee, but in a barista-kinda-way and setting. Although it looked interesting, we felt more for a ‘normal’ cappuccino. Yes, we are boring like that.

With coconut macaroons; yummy! I know, I know, I shouldn’t have. In my defence: I only ate two of the four.

The second cafe is called Runam Bistro.

(Mind you: there is also Cafe Runam, which looks nice as well, but we did not have the chance to check it out.

It looks attractive with all the greenery.

It’s housed in a colonial building and has a garden at the front and a patio at the back.

Charming, isn’t it?

The interior decoration is special, with travel accessories like suitcases and XL industrial lights.

Love the suitcases and the Portuguese tiles.

Very special decor, don’t you think?

Again good food and great, pretty cappuccino.

Okay, how are we going to attack this banh mi? It tasted great, by the way.

Apparently Runam has it’s own line of coffee-related products in very appealing packaging.

What’s your favourite kind of coffee and in what ambiance do you like to have yours? At home in your lazy chair with your newspaper? Or in a hipster cafe with barista lattes?

Since we have a Nespresso-machine with milk-frother, I happily enjoy my cappuccinos at home. Usually in the morning, while watching cute animal videos on Instagram. I also like Starbucks. And high quality coffees in cool places with comfy seats are a pleasure too.
