“So you are into fitness, right? What sort of workout do you do?” , Jerald and Ming asked. “Whoh, stop right there! No,no, I hate sports!”, I replied in a -typically Dutch- kinda blunt way. They looked surprised. “But you like reality TV, correct?”, they tried, with hopeful faces. Unfortunately I had to disappoint them again, since I never ever watch these kind of shows. Now they looked flat out puzzled and slightly amused at the same time. “But I’m totally into fashion!”, I quickly added, eager to please them with something. We all laughed (pfjew) and talked some more about them.
Fit for Fashion reality show
Jerald Foo and Ming Wolf are two of the contestants of the new 10-episode reality TV series Fit for Fashion, that is airing for the first time tomorrow in more than 20 territories in Asia on StarWorld. I met with them at the combined media launch of the Fit for Fashion TV challenge and the Shopping is GREAT Britain campaign.
The launch was held at the beautiful Eden Hall villa where the British High Commission Singapore resides. I was invited together with my fellow blogger and friend Sylvia from 40+style. Being bloggers with a love for style and fashion, of course we appeared dressed up nicely. You can leave that up to us;-).
What I wore
I could say that we were each dressed totally predictable, but I prefer to say that we both wore our signature style. Sylvia wore structured pieces and geometrical accessories in white and grey, with a pop of red. I wore flowers. And florals. And some more flowers. In bright happy colors.
As bloggers and fashionistas we are always looking for beautiful backdrops to pose for and the veranda of the villa surely provided that!
Inside, the villa is as beautiful as on the outside; colonial grandeur. Impressive.
We were welcomed by Benedict Thambiah, communications manager of the British High Commission, quite the fashionista (…fashionisto?…uh..well, you know what I mean) himself. To the point that we discussed his socks, after he revealed them to us. I know, the things that us fashionable people talk about, right?!
Shopping is GREAT Britain campaign
Being early -I am one of those persons who is standard 10 minutes early- gave me ample time to look around and see the fashion on display. Clarks and Dorothy Perkins were some of the brands presented, but the list of brands that participate in the Shopping is Great Britain campaign is much longer.
Then the official part of the event started with short introductions from Mr Phillipson, British High Commissioner to Singapore, from the producer of the TV show Fit for Fashion (both seated in the front row in the picture below) and from a few others.
After which it was time to watch the trailer of the new series.
Let’s see:
Fysical challenges, check.

Famous TV host (Louise Roe), check.

Lots of advertisement/brands/fashion, check.
Jerald and Ming then took the stand and talked about how it was to participate.
Jerald is a bubbly, talkative Singaporean who tried to become more muscular during the challenge, while Ming comes from Myanmar and wanted to become more toned. They both looked like total sweethearts and they came across as kind, smart people. They spoke about the group dynamics and about what the effect had been on them personally and emotionally.
Afterwards there were some yummie canapés and a chance to talk some more, and home we went.
So what do you think? Do we know how to dress for a media event? Do you like what I wore? Are you going to watch Fit for Fashion from tomorrow onwards? Are you into reality TV shows? Which ones are your favorites?
What fun!
I LOVE that floral crown you’re wearing. Did you make it?
Of course you two have such different styles but what each of you chose to wear is perfect for your personal esthetic and personalities.
I don’t watch any reality TV. I used to watch the Bachelor ages ago. We gave up cable about 4 years ago though and now just watch series online. I prefer it. No commercials.
So cool you guys get to attend such unique events.
Those Clarks and the Dorothy Perkins pieces have me drooling. I love both those brands.
bisous

Yes, it was an entertaining media launch! No, the crown came from H&M or Forever 21 (;-)). I have 2 other ones.
The brands that were on display during the event and that participate in the campaign are all great brands. Karen Millen e.g.
I certainly enjoy attending these kind of events, since I have a curious mind and eclectic interests. Although I really have to do something about branding (myself and my blog), since 80% of the invites I get have to do with sports and adventure…hahaha…. How unfitting, being the most anti-sports person on this planet and a huge scaredy-cat!
So dear PR persons, please DO keep approaching me, but e.g. for events around art, music, photography, accessories, beauty, design, fashion, hotels, shopping and travel.Thank you;-).
Oh, that sweater with the hearts; I would want that one, together with some of the Clarks shoes. You both look radiant.
I had my eye on some of the dresses and yes, some of the Clarks shoes looked cool as well!
I love both your outfits. Very fitting for the event. Which is an event I wouldn’t have mind to attend myself.
I also love your flower crown. Bella (The Citizin Rosebud). Have a look at the right side of her blog if you want to see it:

Thanks, dear. You would be great at these kind of events anyhow!
I’m gonna check out Bella’s blog now, because I don’t know what you are referring to.
Seen it?
Yep, I did; Bella is wearing that red flower crown. Goes very well with her dark hair!
I designed the Union Jack Dress in the Campaign Poster !!! 😀 Xx
