Gardens by the Bay. Revisited.

June 1, 2014

Long-time readers know how I love Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay. I wrote about them here (part 1 of a series of 6 posts about the Gardens, find 2-6 via the SEARCH box on the right side), here, here and here.

How can one NOT be impressed by this sight?!

Although we do not live ‘around the corner’ any longer, I still go back there regularly, especially since I bought an annual pass.

I wrote very recently about my visit to Tulipmania that was held inside the Flower Dome. Once there I also revisited the cactea and succulents that I like so much.

After the Flower Dome, I went inside the other glasshouse: the Cloud Forest.

Rainforest ‘mountain’.

It mimics a mountain-y rainforest environment.

Walkways all around.

You take an elevator to the top of the ‘mountain’, from where you walk down, winding your way around the mountain walls, close-up with the tropical rainforest vegetation.

It is really high!

Cool car;-). And how I love the green, velvety, round mosses!
Cute little mountain lake.
Beautiful vegetation, don’t you think?

Taking a selfie via mirrors on the ceiling.

After my visit to both Domes, I had a nice coffee and cake (very affordable afternoon-offer) at Bakerzin, next to the Domes.

Then I strolled a bit more through the vast grounds, admiring flowers, blossoms, trees and the occasional small lizard.

Look at the person on the right to get an idea of the scale!
Two dragon flies.
They are huge!
And they are ridden by boys who catch dragonflies;-).

Singapore has SO many varieties of orchids!!!
And a bit of a blossom season as well.

Leafs can be beautiful too. Especially when they are lit up by rays of sunshine.
The most gorgeous tree trunk ever!
He was quite far away, hence the poor quality of this picture. Still;-).

The Super Trees were magnificent as always. It is lovely to go up the Skywalk around sunset and enjoy the views. You can also go up the highest of the Super Trees and have some F&B there. Again: great views and breezy spot.

Having drinks on top of the highest Super Tree.

I still have not had a chance to go back for the renewed daily light- and music show. Have you seen it? Is it an improvement compared to the previous show?

The Gardens by the Bay regularly organize events, so be sure to keep track of their calendar! You can also be a volunteer at The Gardens in many different ways. Check out their website for more info.

Which of Singapore’s botanical gardens do you prefer? The Botanical Gardens or the Gardens by the Bay?
What is your favorite spot or activity at any or both of these parks?

Do you like to visit botanical gardens? Which ones were the best you ever visited and why?

Oh, this post made me feel nostalgic about Singapore…Don’t know why exactly this post. I have not been to these gardens. Must be on my list for my next visit to Singapore (I hope there will be next visit). Very impressive and beautiful…

What fantastic photos you took here. Also you are looking rather lovely yourself : )

We went to a botanical garden in Nice. It was okay. Just okay. I expected more to be honest. These ones look quite spectacular.

    bisous

With me, Botanical Gardens wins! Always. Although I can understand the appeal of Gardens by the Bay for some with its futuristic look. Both Gardens offer variety and choice. That’s where I think Singapore is clever.

The scale and the perfection keeps amazing me. I mean, I had an excuse for the Netherlands… we have lack of space. But come on Singapore has lack of space too and see how impressive, huge and perfect everything is. Jaw dropping. Like Suzanne, I loved that picture of you in your pink dress. Looking beautiful.

They have lack of space here too. Indeed. That’s why this whole area is built on reclaimed land, using Dutch polder-technology and Indonesian sand!
