My big love though, remains snail mail; old fashioned cards and letters with actual handwritten content.
If I would count up all the mail I have sent in my life, including cards, stickers, stamps and what have you, I think I have kept a small post-office going strong all by myself;-).
In the old days (hear grandma talking, folks;-)) I used to receive snail mail too. Not as much as I sent, but quite substantial amounts.
Nowadays that’s rare.
No one seems to spend time on that anymore. Which is fine and understandable. Too bad though, since it is such a joy to find an unexpected card or letter in your mailbox. It can really brighten one’s day.
Someone, maybe someone far away even, thought of you. Spent time, attention, effort and money on you. Picked a card especially with you in mind. Put tiny stickers on it that mean something to you or that tell a little story. Queued up half an hour at the postoffice for you.

I get my stickers, postcards, stamps, ink cushions, glitter pens and so on from everywhere. I adore turning them into little stories, having them talk and give them a meaning. Fun!
Friends and family often tell me how one of my ‘pimped’ snail mails brought a smile on their faces. And that makes my day…again. I say ‘again’, because preparing the card, the whole process leading up to the sending, is already a happy activity for me.
Lately, I have been nagging and begging at friends and family to send me some nice snail mail. Not that I was desperate or anything. But I did long for that feeling of anticipation, excitement and surprise when I open my mailbox. I did not experience that since a long time.
All that begging (with a wink) paid of. Several friends sent me something and made my day with it each time.
As you may know by now, I am all bout pimping my mail; stickers, stamping, glitters, drawings, masking tape and whatever I can get my hands on.
On top of that I am also for some content.
You know how some people use to send a card from their holiday adress saying something like: “Greetings from Greece. John and Mary”. I’m still grateful for the thought and the effort, but I do find it a waist of a perfectly good card where something real and personal could have been written. Do you know what I mean?
Now I don’t know wether my friends got inspired by my heavily decorated letters and cards, or that they felt flat out pressured to deliver something that would equal my mail, but they went out of their way to decorate their cards and letters to me too and they also ‘wrote stuff’. Personal stuff. Wow!
One blogger-friend and kindred spirit, who is extremely talented and creative, sent me (for the second time) a thick envelop with stickers and cards that she all made herself!!!

Exciting! Can’t wait to open!

OMG, look at all those cute cards. All made by Suzanne Carillo herself!

See that there are small 3D elements on her cards? Like the owl. And of course the ribbon.
The chihuahua in pink tutu is one of her latest creations. Isn’t it adorable?

Adorable!!!!
Thank you, dear friends, for making this effort for me. It comes highly appreciated, really!
Do you send and/or receive snail mail regularly?

Awwww….thanks for the shout out! : )
It is so nice to get something good in the mail instead of bills for a change.
I’m really happy you liked the cards. I need to spend more time being creative. Some of these graphics were made so very many years ago. Like the one of me on the beach wearing my bathing suit. It is a replica of myself when we were in Cuba. When I made scrapbook pages everyone wondered how my sticker wound up looking like me! LOL
Also my MasterCard was pretty funny. Some things never change ; )
I adore that watercolour card. Did someone paint that for you? Wow. Fantastic.
bisous
Suzanne
Ah, see, I THOUGHT that might be you in the sticker! How fun to have stickers of yourself, hahaha.
No, the card was not hand painted by a friend or something. Very nice, nevertheless;-).
Suzanne… did you see I reused your stickers to brighten up Anja’s card? haha, that is what we call sustainability, recycling. LOL
And I can say more about the water colour card. It was made by Aileen Wrennall, a Scottish friend who also comments on Sylvia’s 40+ Style blog and on mine. This is the link to her website:

Have bought a few. Not many.
A few will do;-). Thanks!
