My 15 favorite animals on the web

January 21, 2014

As most of you know, I am crazy about animals, in particular dogs and cats.
So it will not come as a surprise that I loooooove looking at pictures and videos from/with animals on the web.

Don’t get me wrong: meeting them ‘for real’ is always the best, of course. But I don’t always have pets around, unfortunately.
My cat died a couple of months ago and there is no room for another pet in the nomad life I lead nowadays.

My darling cat Guust when he was 17 years old. He died at age 18.

Later I will take pets again, maybe….. When I grow up ;-)…

A house on a plot of land in Andalucia, with Frits and lots of cats and dogs. That’s my dream.

Anyways, back to topic: animals on the web.

From CuteOverload to FunnyVideos, from Instagram to FaceBook, there are cute, handsome, smart, funny and photogenic pets to be found everywhere.

In the mornings, slowly bringing life into my mind and body, sipping from my cappuccino, there is not much that relaxes me more then watching a self-compilated mini-marathon (5 to 15 minutes) of ‘My Favorite Pets on the Web’.
Frits will look at me, nodding his head, while I sit on my couch with my iPad, smiling and laughing like an idiot.

Who are the animals that entertain me the most? Let me introduce them to you, in random order:

Warning: you might suffer from ‘cute overload’ if you continue reading;-)!

1. Ginny, a Jack Russel Terrier

  • Where : I follow her on Instagram, where she is a huge hit with 278K followers!
  • Owner: Chelsea
  • Why: She is cute as a button and very photogenic. But a key factor in her success is her ‘human’, as she describes herself. She not only takes wonderful pictures, but she is also extremely funny and creative in her captions. No animal (and captions) makes me laugh so much as Ginny, especially videos of her, e.g. snoring very loud;-).
  • Special: Ginny is obsessed with everything bacon, and inventor of bacontinis. She also has her own book.
Ginny is great in ‘flying’ pics.
She is naughty in the funniest possible way.
And so sweet, cuddling her toy, snoring loudly.

2. Jazzie, a Bordercollie

  • Who: Jazzie, Bordercollie
  • Owner: Aki
  • Where on the web: Instagram. Jazzie and ‘brother’ Cooper, a labrador have 33K followers there. Website: http://capturetheangels.wordpress.com
  • Why: the pictures Aki takes! Unbelievable! These pictures are just spectacular! I am so, so very impressed.
  • Special: ‘catch the treat’-pictures
All Aki’s dog pictures are fab, but the action pics with Jazzie are so cool!
Her lab Cooper is older and less ‘standing out’ then Jazzie, but he sure looks very sweet. This pic is so funny.
Aki specialized in pics where she throws a treat and the dog is about to catch it. Very challenging, but she does a beautiful job!

3. Riley, a Parson Jack

  • Description: “The artistic pooch with a mug for modeling”.
  • Fact: One year old.
  • French Canadian owner: Chaity.
  • Special: Riley and Chaity run a campaign called #ourpearlywhites. It is a campaign to support dental health for pets. Riley has a co-model, fish Finnegan.
  • Where : I follow him on Instagram. He has 12K followers.
  • Why: Because of the pretty, artistic pictures of this gorgeous dog.
He seems to take modeling very seriously;-).
Fish Finnegan is his co-model.

4. Dee aka Diesel, a mini english bulldog

  • Owners: Michel and Nicolette
  • Where: Instagram. She has 4484 followers.
  • Why: Look at those teethies! How can you NOT fall in love with a face like that? On top op that the pictures are gorgeous and esthetic.
  • Fact: from northern california, 6 years old
  • Special: check out website Inkopious.
A face that is all happy and sweet. SO cute!
What a great pic!
Definitely a hat-person…uh… doggie.

5. and 6. Harlow, a Weimaraner and Indi, a Dachshund

  • Special: they like popculture and Meryl Streep.
  • Where: Instagram. They have 182K followers.
  • Why: Both dogs are gorgeous. They can both have hysteric eyes, they sleep in each others arms all the time and both love Meryl Streep;-). I cannot imagine a bigger dog-love then theirs.
  • More special: Until some months ago it was Harlow and Sage. They were the most adorable and unlikely couple: the giant Weimaraner Harlow, with the hysteric eyes, and the old, small Wiener Sage. Inseparable. Until Sage’s death sadly DID separate them. Then Indi (Indiana) appeared: the cutest wiener pup. And it’s unbelievable and beautiful to see how Harlow and Indi got that same bond right away, that Harlow and Sage had.
  • Owner: Brittni.
Their friendship and love for each other is amazing!
Gorgeous pic of two gorgeous dogs.
OMG, need I say more? Ever saw anything sweeter?

7. Tuna, a chiweenie

  • Description: “A chiweenie with an aggressive overbite/lower jawline dysfunction”.
  • Where: Instagram. He has nothing less then 650K followers!!!!
  • Why: he has the most unlikely face, making it spookily ugly and very adorable at the same time. Best part is that he is not bothered by any of that at all;-).
Look at that face! Adorable in all his ugliness;-).
Hahaha…so funny!

8. Fred, a blue-eyed mongrel

  • Where: Instagram. He has 1292 followers.
  • Why: those blue eyes, his aristocratic body and posture and his ability to lie and hang in the most impossible positions. Last but not least: the beautiful, artistic pictures of him.

Great pictures, gorgeous dog.
Love the lettering on the wall!
Comfy Evdo?;-)

9. Norm, a pug

  • Where: Instagram. He has 165K followers.
  • Why: he is adorable and special. His balancing skills to pose on strange undergrounds are amazing. Of course his success is also due to his unique and eccentric boss Jeremy Veach, who calls himself Normtographer. Hahaha. He looks very cool himself with his nerdy-look-meets-lots-of-tats. And he takes the most funny and artistic pictures of Norm. A real artist.
  • Special: Jeremy sells Norm pics on Society6.

10. P-Chan, a black cat

  • Where: Instagram. The instagram of him and his brother-cat has 150K followers. (Not sure actually if they are males or females, these cats.)
  • Why: because of the artistic, minimalistic black and white pictures of this black cat.
  • Special: everything is in Japanese, so I know nothing about the owner, story or background:-(.

I especially fall for the black and whites of the black cat.
The pics tend to be empty apart from the cat, giving it a graphic, artistic look.

11., 12., and 13. Kobi, Bob and Dillon, long-haired German Sheperds

  • Description: “Three amazing and adorable long-haired german sheperds from England, joined together by their ball and rope.”
  • Where: on Instagram with 77K followers.
  • Why: how special IS it to find three dogs that are all equally beautiful and a real threesome? Always running in three’s holding on to one and the same rope!!! AND of course the gorgeous pictures that their owner takes, often with a slight HDR edit which makes the pics extra beautiful.
  • Owner: @thebluemeanie
What an unbelievable threesome. Literally connected by their toy.

14. Simon’s Cat

  • Where: all his videos are on YouTube here
  • Why: you only have to watch Cat-Man-Do and you will know why. Hilarious and so recognizable for any cat-owner!

15. Maru the cat

  • Where: you can find all his videos on YouTube here.
  • Why: this cat is such a character. He loves the strangest things, like getting his head in a too small paper baggie and then walking around his house ‘blind’. Most of all he adores boxes and has amazing ways to fit in them.Hilarious!

But what about William Wegman’s Weimaraners? And Carli Davidson’s unbelievable animal pictures? Or Lily, the Hero Pittbull, and her amazing story?

Yes, I adore them as well. Let’s save them for my next ‘animals on the web’ post, ok?

Do you follow any of the above animals? Which ones are your favorites? Do you have other pets on the web to recommend? Please do! I can never get enough;-)!

Note:

  • all the pictures in this post belong to the owners of the animal(-s) in question. They kindly gave me their permission to use these pictures for this post. A big thanks to all of you, for letting me use the pictures, and also for all the feel-good-moments;-)!
  • there were a few owners that unfortunately did not respond to my emails and messages. I did not succeed to get permission from Tuna’s and Norm’s owners. I included pictures of their dog(-s) anyways, since I felt the post would be incomplete without them. I hope you don’t mind, dear dog owners. If you do mind, please let me know and I will remove them instantly.

What a great bunch of photos! I too love looking at animal photos or videos. They don’t disappoint as humans seem to.

I don’t follow anyone on instagram but I do follow The Daily Puglet on their blog. She writes from the pug’s point of view and always gets the best shots. They even had a video of Puglet showing people how to recycle.

    Loved this post!

    bisous
