The show is held in the theatre of the City of Dreams, one of Macau’s casino’s. It lies next to the Hard Rock Hotel and inside the City of Dreams you can find a Hard Rock Cafe and of course a Hard Rock shop.
I like the sleek, silvery look of this group of buildings. The various casino’s in Macau all have very different looks. Most have a kitschy theme (which I happen to love also). Quite a contrast with these modern buildings.
When we arrived at the City of Dreams, after a crazy half day in Macau (more about that in another post), we were famished, dehydrated and in a hurry to catch the show. I have seldomly in my life been so deperate for a drink and some food. So we rushed right over to the Hard Rock Cafe and ordered something easy and fast.
We really had to gobble it all in fast, so it was not our most relaxing dinner;-). But at least it quenched our thirst and filled our stomaches.
Then it was rush rush to the theatre. Fortunately we were in time!
After the show we walked around in the City of Dreams.
We ran into some participants of the show, and some fiction characters. Guess who’s real and who’s not;-).
We went to the Hard Rock shop to get our usual T-shirts.
Walking around I especially liked the design and effect of the lights.
Pretty, right? Or maybe it’s just me, because I am such a sucker for lights!
After the City of Dreams we crossed over to the Venetian. That was a very different look and experience. Deserving a separate post.
How do you feel about casino’s? Do you like to gamble? Can you see the fun and humor in these artificial places? Or do you despise them as being fake, commercial, superficial or evil?

I despise Vegas for all of the reasons you mentioned. Plus I hate gambling. I used to have to do trade shows there every year and just hated it. Everything is too large, too artificial, too overdone…too too too.

I do not gamble either. But I guess it is my fascination for the weird, the tacky, the kitsch (ketain), the over-the-top, that makes me still enjoy places like Vegas. Not too long, but a brief dose of amazement I like;-).
