Fashion in the Netherlands is -for many people- a matter of comfort. We bike a lot, there is a lot of rain, wind and cold, so people tend to dress to be comfortable for that. Easy and practical goes over pretty.
Easy flat shoes, comfy pants, short hair, short nails and often no make-up, for that 'natural', no frills look. I'm talking about the dutch women;-).
(Can you read between the lines that that's not my style? Hahaha….)
The approach of Singaporean women forms quite a contrast compared to the dutch down-to-earth attitude towards dressing and looks; I see e.g. so many extravagant and/or high heels here!
Here is a compilation of shoes that I ran into lately:
Red heels are of course classics.
The whole look of these two women is cool and funky. I particularly like the shoes of the lady on the right.
I love the look of this black lady. Stylish, colorful, different.
This lady is wearing one of the boldest and highest heels I saw. If I recall it well, they are Louboutins, as she told me. Look at the insane pattern mix; love it!!!
Here you see her with another lady, who is wearing silver heels.
A few years ago, at a fashion week in Amsterdam, I ran into this extravagant young man, wearing heels without heels. I was amazed and impressed!
Here I saw several ladies wearing something similar. Must be hard and difficult to walk in. But I asked one of them. She replied: "No, it's ok, only after many hours it becomes tiring." Hm, hard to believe that…
At two of the fashion shows that I saw recently, the models were wearing high heels with curved thin heels. I would guess that these are hard to walk in as well, because of those in-bending heels.
Then again, I expect most of the shoes in this post to be very hard on the feet. I know I would not be able to walk in most of them, with my 'difficult' feet:-(.
In another show the models were wearing thigh high boots, made of a thin leather or latex material. Tight as a glove, they seem.
Several women chose for golden or silver shoes.
These two ladies have similar shoes; a thin plank-like heel. One has perspex 'planks', the other wooden ones.
I love these shoes with the yellow pops of color!
You all know my love for sneakers and that I acquired such a unique pair recently.
Well, I saw some special ones in Singapore lately:
And the sneakers of this guy were uber-cool. Not sure I would wear them myself, but for a special event I think I would.
I finish this kaleidoscope of shoes with those of a client of Heels Diva. She is wearing transparent, plastic open toed heels and Foot Jewels from Heels Diva. And look at her nail art! This clearly is a lady who loves to beautify her feet. Cool!
Personally, I love many sorts of shoes: heels, sneakers, booties, boots, sandals… I am very sorry that my feet are built in a way that makes wearing heels pure torture, otherwise I would wear them a lot more. Heels and pumps are so feminine and do wonders for your posture and look.
How is your relationship with shoes and with your feet? Do you choose comfy over pretty or the other way around?

These red ones are just very high.

These ones are more special with a wooden heel and plateau and with roses on several places.

Her heels are a beautiful intense shiny blue, with a perspex, glittery plateau.
This way you can see the picture on the toe better. Who is that? Hector Poirot?

I would not mind having a pair of these, with the chain jewelry attached. Only not in white, I think. Too sports shoe-ish for me;-)

I am always drawn to shoes that my feet hate me for. As I grow older I'm trying to curb this addiction because I simply cannot wear the heels for longer than 10 minutes walking. Sometimes only 5. The problem is that every time I try them on in the store they "seem" fine. It's only when I actually wear the out somewhere and need to walk more than a block that I realize I will need a steady stream of martinis in my system in order to keep moving.

Yep, been there, done that. I envy those who can walk on heels painlessly!
