Three months in Haarlem, the Netherlands

July 28, 2013

My three months in Holland are coming to an end soon. Next week I fly to Singapore.

A lot happened this May, June and July. No dramatic events, just daily life and casual things. I had a great time.

Here’s a photo reportage of the past months:

I enjoyed being around my friends:

1.Jo, on Frits’ birthday party. 2.Leonie (who I met in India) and her sister. 3.Marieke, who got a puppy. 4.My friend Jacqueline from Canada came over. 5.Picnick in the park with my friends Mieke and Anja.

Frits was able to come over for four weeks and we met up with his children and friends regularly:
Frits, Menno and Simone.
Frits and his friend Hans; accidentally color coordinated. Funny;-).

I went tango dancing, DJ-ing and gave some private lessons. It was fun:

1.Jessica dancing with a student, 2.salon Rio Raaks, 3.DJing at salon El Tren, 4.dancing at Tango at Sea in Zandvoort, 5.Hanneke’s son Javi wearing her heels; so cute!

Did photoshoots with my fashion blogging friends Sylvia and Greetje:

Greetje posing.

Lot of repairs and replacements had to be done, like a broken dishwasher, water tab, cat door and my camera. Not my favorite pastime:

The first two cat doors malfunctioned. Luckily number three works just fine!
In the camera shop, the man behind the counter took my picture while analysing what was wrong with it. It works again now.

I had a creative attack and pimped a dozen of boxes, repainted my garden murals and the garden chairs:

Some of the boxes that I decorated.

I attended a conference for travel bloggers and met other bloggers, like e.g. Yishyene:

Beautiful hotel room with XL bubbelbath. Fellow bloggers.
Yishyene in my garden, after the conference. Her luggage and passport were stolen and she got stuck in Holland. She stayed one night in my house. On the left my dear old cat Guust.

There were animal encounters:

1.Noes, cat of my neighbors. 2.Tassie, cat of my friend Luus. 3.Guust, my own cat.
1.Shariff, the Saluki from my friend Jessica. 2.Sheila, temporary doggie from Simone. 3.Mette, puppy from my friend Marieke.

I visited Artis, the Amsterdam Zoo, with my friend Diana, and had a lovely afternoon:

The weather was totally unpredictable. It started out very, very cold. And grey. And wet. And windy. In between all that never ending cold, we had some wonderful, sunny, hot days and weeks:

There were tattoo encounters, like with this very cool lady:

A grand niece was born; named Lois:

It was lovely to be surrounded by the decor in my own home and in that of some friends:

1.Kitschy porcelain in the house of my friend Marieke. 2.Angel and devil statues in the house of my friend Luus. 3.Stillife in my own house.

I photographed a lot of flowers; something that I always love and that never bores me:

Like always, I don’t like leaving my friends, family, house and cat behind. But I know by now that I am gonna have a great time at where I am going to as well.

Singapore here I come! Looking forward to reconnecting with my friends over there and with sweet Cash. And last but not least to be reunited with my hubby Frits!

How were your last months? Did you enjoy a vacation or staycation? Did the endless cold get to you, resulting in a flu, cold or depression? Or do you rather like cold weather? Do you succeed to see enough of your friends, family and pets? Let me know; I would love to hear from you.

Anja, I enjoyed this trip back on memory lane.
It was quite a busy 3 months, the highlights for me are: the grand niece, the pets, yours and Greetje outfits pose, the flowers (I love photographing trees)and the tattoos.
My summer has being full of eating with friends, spending time with the kids and going to free local activities.
Have a great trip back to Singapore.

Hi Ofelia, how nice of you to stop by again! You seem to have had a great summer as well! Where do you ‘publish’ your pictures of trees? On Instagram? Do you have tattoos yourself? I don’t and never will, but I find them intriguing and many are gorgeous. It’s wonderful to be back in Singapore.
