Rooftop bars in Singapore.

September 11, 2010

We explored three rooftop bars in Singapore.

The first one, Halo@Wangz, looked nice. It had little ambience, but that may have been due to the fact that it was near closing time and there was nobody there.

Thanks to the metal frame, the view looks like a painting. Half open roof terraces are breezy and lovely in this climate.
The noise of the big road made the view and bar less appealing.

The next rooftop bar that we visited was Fabrika by Chivas 18, belonging to Klapsons, the Boutique Hotel.

The entrance of the hotel was very special; the reception desk in particular: a big metal ball in the middle of the lobby!

Playful design and quirky furniture. Cool!

Fabrika, the bar on the roof terrace, had an arabic ambience, with multi colored lanterns and a beautifully mosaic bar. Cosy seating areas and good lounge music.
Yes, we liked this bar. And the champagne tasted good!

The third and last bar we visited was 1Altitude, on top of One Raffles Place OUB Building.
Wow, those views beat everything!!! It was the highest bar of the three and the newest. It was so high, that I had a bit of vertigo!

The entrance at the foot of the tower is not hard to spot.
On the 61th floor is a bar too, with golf simulators.
On the 62th floor is a fancy restaurant, while on the 63rd floor is a two storied roof terrace bar.
On the top floor.
It was crowded; people were curious to see the spectacular views. As you can see there were a lot of local ladies. Dressed in a LBD. (Little Black Dress). Not a lot of variation, Playing safe instead;-)
Here too: lounge music and cosy seats. On weekends though, the music is different and often so loud, that we do not like to go there anymore. Impossible to have a conversation.
The walls are glass from feet till breast height. What a vista’s, but also bit scary;-).
The whole of Singapore lies at your feet. Beautiful! It is so high, that cellphones get confused, telling you one second you are in Malaysia, the next that you are in Singapore, etc.
Marina Bay, the Esplanades and the Flyer.
Marina Bay Sands, the Arts and Science Museum (shaped like a white lotus flower), the DNA foot bridge and the Flyer on the left.
The lights in the background are from numerous freight ships, lying at sea, waiting to be let into the harbour.
Marina Bay Sands with on top the Skypark with it’s very long infinity pool.
The Esplanades, Singapore’s concert building.
About in the middle of this picture stands our home, the Sail.
The Singapore River lined with lots of bars and restaurants.

Which are your preferred rooftop bars in Singapore? And what do you think of the above bars?
