Paper53 still rocks

September 26, 2017

I have written about the sketching app Paper53 before. You can have a look at my sketched selfies here, portraits of my friends here, fashion sketches here, fantasy here and famous people here .

I just loooove this app. Ever since I discovered it in 2013.

Paper53 still rocks

Sometimes I don’t sketch for months and then all of a sudden I get my mojo back and I’m totally into it - again.

Autobiographic sketches made with Paper53 |curlytraveller.com

Some of my sketches are autobiographic. Like little travel diaries.

I then pick up my stylus and open Paper53 on my iPad and there I go. What an amazing app!

What is so good about Paper53

Paper 53 allows you to sketch with a stylus -or if necessary even with your fingertips- on your iPad. It has options for smartphones too.

Sketches depicting famous Christmas songs made with Paper53 |curlytraveller.com

During Christmas time I once made a series of sketches based on well-known Christmas songs. That was fun to do!

Since a stylus and your iPad is all you need, it is perfect for travellers. You can work clean, simple and light.

Variety of topics, sketched with Paper53 |curlytraveller.com

Other times I feel for sketching celebrities, cartoon characters or to make a little cartoon myself, like the one about the bird and the cat in the bottom row.

I’m holding of from purchasing an iPadPro until it is further developed and better connected to other and more apps. Maybe in a couple of years I will buy one. But until then, Paper53, a stylus and my iPad works just fine for me.

The top row sketches were made for a personalised cookbook for friends.

For around $10 you have all the ‘tools’ that you need in terms of colours and functionalities like a brush, pen, pencil, etc. You can even mix your own colours.

Animals are a recurring theme in my sketches.

You can print your sketches, email them to others and/or use them on your website, to name some options.

This is not a sponsored post by the way; I’m just enthusiastic.

Do you use Paper53? Do you sketch, paint or draw? Which mediums and tools do you use?

I LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! this app. I don’t have it!!
Now I WANT it. But I’d need an iPad. Hmm.
I never would have guessed that you did them digitally.
    No cleanup?! It’s a dream.

Your sketches are BRILLIANT. (Sorry, lots of caps for lots of love and enthusiasm.)
The cat with bird, the flattering fence. The curls, the cold, the fondue…You are sooo good. These are a breath of fresh air. Your captions are hilarious.

Thanks so much, Mel, it means extra much coming from an artist like yo self! I hope one day you’ll have an iPad and this app. The sky’s the limit!

You know how much I like your sketches. I still have fond memories of the ones you made for me when I started blogging.

It’s funny; I’d love to get credit and appreciation for my blog and my IG, but I’m not achieving a lot on either of those two media. I don’t think highly of my sketches, but people give me lots of kudos for them. Same goes for my group mails; the recipients seem to love them while for me they are just a small thing.
