Lunch at Frisk Haarlem

September 18, 2017

New restaurant: Frisk Haarlem

A couple of months ago I visited the quite new restaurant Frisk aan het Spaarne.

I already knew the building in which Frisk is housed: the former Droste chocolate factory.

The former Droste factory, uniquely located right at the Spaarne river.

Beautiful industrial heritage, which I love!

After renovation of the former factory, initially another cafe-restaurant was housed here (Chocoase), but that didn’t work out.

So now there is Frisk. Owned by the same couple that owns Het Veerkwartier, another cool restaurant on a unique location in Haarlem.

The restaurant’s interior has been designed and (hand-)made by a bunch of creative people, each responsible for a specific part of the decor.

I love the super long table with the lamps made especially for Frisk.

They did a good job, since they turned the space into a light, hip place with great colours and furniture.

From the covered gallery, you have a fantastic view on the river.

When we were there, we started outside, where there are lots of seats too. But soon it became too cold for us, so then we went inside. In summer though, on warm days, this terrace is gonna be a busy hotspot for sure. So cool to watch the ships sail by. You can also come by boat and you can even be served on your boat!

Lunch at Frisk Haarlem

So I thought it was time to check out Frisk aan het Spaarne (that’s the name of the river that flows through Haarlem). And what better way to do that then with two other bloggers and friends of mine: Greetje from the highly entertaining and very popular personal blog No Fear of Fashion and rising star and ‘senior street style’ photographer Misja from the blog MisjaB. By the way: Misja refers to her subjects as ‘slightly older’, not as ‘seniors’.

We decided to have lunch at Frisk and of course, as always, our meet up included lots of picture taking, lots of posing, chatting and having fun.Three women in restaurant Frisk aan het Spaarne |curlytraveller.com

There’s always a lot to share and talk about amongst us.

Frisk’s kitchen is based on the nordic kitchen, like e.g. smorgasbord and salmon.

Frisk is the Danish word for ‘fresh’ and that’s one of the words Frisk uses to describe what they stand for. Together with terms like: pure, healthy, seasonal, green and authentic.

The food was tasteful and fresh.

Bloggers, fashion and pictures

Let me introduce my friends:

Misja is the professional photographer of the three.

Greetje and Misja both are really into fashion and style, which you see back in the focus of their blogs.

And after that we took some shots of her at the river bank with a nice ship in the background.

Misja and I managed to convince Greetje that the white boho top was not a great look for her. And she really is a good sport, because when she got home, she immediately gave the top away….to me! Hahaha… But the top did not do me any good either, so I gave it back and it found it’s final destination soon after. Greetje made another woman very happy with the white top.

Some headshots of Greetje. Doesn’t she look cute and fun?!

I like to take pictures and yes, I do like to dress nicely, but I can certainly not call myself a photographer nor a fashionista nor is fashion a big topic on my blog.

Here I am, posing. I’m wearing a skinny in a floral pattern, a ‘golden glittery’ top with open sleeves and gorgeous buttons on the back. Paired with ‘silver’ sneakers and matching accessories.

Details.

Not that that matters. All three of us need pictures for our blog and social media and we enjoy posing and photographing with this in mind.

When ever we meet, we usually all use our iPhones and cameras, (that’s 6 cameras!) and everybody takes pictures with everyone’s camera and phone, when asked. As a result we always end up with heaps of pictures and I honestly cannot be sure who made which picture for this post. Let’s call it a co-production, shall we?

Have you visited Frisk already? Did you like this place? Do you meet up with girlfriends and take pictures of one another?

It was indeed a co-production. And a thoroughly enjoyable lunch. Your post is much better than mine was.

Looks like a fun spot and good times with other bloggers and friends.

BTW…I think you dress great and would consider you to be very fashionable indeed.
