So let’s continue from where we left off in my previous post:
My favorite bars and restaurants in Tokyo - part 2
We begin with number 6 on the list:
6. New York Bar and The Peak Lounge at Park Hyatt (Shinjuku)
Park Hyatt’s NY Bar is super famous due to it’s appearance in Sophia Coppola’s movie Lost in Translation with Bill Murray and Scarlett Johanson.
The main attraction are the views of Mount Fuji through the floor to ceiling windows, especially popular at sunset.

Sunset at The Peak Lounge, Park Hyatt, Tokyo. With Mt. Fuji.
We arrived at the Peak Lounge on the 41st floor around 5 pm, hoping to get a table at the window, but we were too late. We sat ‘second row’, which was still good.

We were excited to get a table in the Peak Lounge. Frits was proudly wearing his new hat.
I chose one of their High Tea options, which was fan-tas-tic! I got a pot of tea and a yummy assortment of snacks. Sweet and savory.
Everything at the Park Hyatt is expensive, but the good thing of this High Tea is, that they keep going round with new snacks. Complimentary. You can totally fill your stomach with this High Tea, if you’d want that.

After a while we decided to go up some floors and continue with drinks at the NY Bar on the 52nd floor. Again there were no tables left at the windows, but the views and the atmosphere were still very enjoyable.
7. Tabela (Shibuya)
Tabela is a Mediterranean restaurant in Shibuya. It has a small al fresco terrace from which you can overlook the street and do some people-watching.
While we were there it was autumn though, so we sat inside.

Studying the menu at Tabela.
Food and drinks are cheap and it feels like sitting in someone’s living room. Informal and cosy.
8. Sushi zanmai (Shibuya)
No fuss, no frills sushi place. They have several branches.

Upon entering, the chefs behind the counter all yell “Welcome” (in Japanese) from the top of their lungs;-).

No points for interior decorating;-), but the food was good. And affordable.

9. And people (Shibuya)
We only passed this bar-restaurant in Shibuya, without going in. But it looked so nice, that I decided to give And People a place in this list anyway.

Look at the young couple, cuddled up under a blanket on the terrace. Enjoying an autumn night together, while overlooking the crowd strolling through Spanish Lane. Cute!

10. Reissue (Harajuku)
Another super cute cafe-restaurant, that has art coffee as special attraction.

I decided to go for 3D latte art, that was made before my eyes. I asked for a cat. How cool?!

I could have chosen for almost anything, by the way. Look at their show-map:

They can also do more drawing-like latte art.
We had our lunch there and my salad was one of the nicest I ever had, with unusual ingredients.
I love the interior decorations; vintage and quirky.

And that sums up all 10 of my favorite spots for a bite and/or a drink in Tokyo.
Ofcourse I could as easily have chosen 10 other ones, since Tokyo is filled with numerous bars, restaurants and cafes. From micro-sized to big, from cheap to crazy expensive, from cosy to posh…there is something for everyone.
Those lattes were incredible! I don’t even drink lattes but I’d have to have one there.
I would also take in that high tea. Yum!

I would have gone for one (art latte) even if I wouldn’t drink it. Just to see them create it and to look at it;-).
Thanks for this list. Yeah, I couldn’t believe the lattes! That’s amazing. I would definitely need to photograph my drink before I ruin it. People here get excited with a heart in the foam. And an all-you-can-eat high tea. Haha. Beautiful settings.
I would have expected this latte art to have picked up in Canada as well, but maybe not? There are a few spots in Singapore where they do this, and I know there is one place in Haarlem that can do a art coffee. I was very impressed to see the barista create it!
