Fabulous glow-in-the-dark fashion at Peranakan Museum

October 15, 2015

‘Illuminate’

During Singapore’s Night festival a month ago, there was a small, but wonderful fashion exhibition at the Peranakan Museum Singapore, called ILLUMINATE.

The exhibition space looked very cool, with all the glow-in-the dark threads and fashion.

It was on very briefly, so if you missed it…. then luckily you can still enjoy it now, via my pictures here;-).

The clothes are designed by NAFA students and they are too quirky and fun NOT to share with you.

Avant-garde, inspired by heritage

The 8 students are seniors at the NAFA fashion academy.

They designed the clothes in an avant-garde style, yet at the same time based on elements of the Peranakan heritage style and culture.

Glow-in-the-dark effect through the use of UV-light

The exhibition used UV-light to ‘ILLUMINATE’ the Peranakan-inspired motifs, prints, patterns and fabrics.

How about the dress on the left for a wedding instead of the traditional white?! The suit on the right is menswear. I suddenly feel an idea for a glow-in-the-dark dress up party coming up….;-)

Love both outfits!

I discovered I was glow-in-the-dark myself!

Totally coincidental I fitted right in with what I was wearing! Hahaha….

Hey, I’m glowing!

Do you have any clothes that glow-in-the-dark? Do you like this kind of fashion? Would you wear it?

I don’t think I have any glow in the dark clothes, but you didn’t know that about your outfit either. So who knows.
Of the two outfits you really like, I love the right one, top and skirt. Really beautiful.

Yes, I can see why you like that outfit. It would look good on you, but you would prefer the top to be a bit longer, I think.

Ha ha! Love that you glowed. I have no idea if any of my clothes glow in the dark. Could be fun for Halloween : )

By chance I decided yesterday, that I will be wearing that same outfit for Halloween soon. Not because of the glow-in-the-dark, because I don’t expect them to have black-light at the location where we are going for Halloween. But because it fits Halloween; orange and skulls.

Further more I intend to do pop art make up and crazy hair. Woohoo! Gonna do some small make up trials today to see if I can pull it off.
