The magic of sunsets

What IS it with sunsets? Why do they make us so excited about them and happy? At least that’s what they do to me.

When I envision a dream location and situation, it often includes a beautiful, dramatic orange sunset. What else? Well, I see Frits and I, lounging in a cosy, semi-covered king-sized daybed, in our very own tropical garden. We are enjoying yummie snacks and cocktails, while overlooking the ocean.

The location in my fantasy is something along this line, but then private.
This is the beach area from the W hotel in Bali, to be precise.

Yeah, that’s right, the ocean! Because when we walk out of our garden, we step right on the beach. Pretty cool, right?

I know, it’s just a dream, a fantasy, but still… appealing, correct?

So there we are; we watch the sun go down and slowly sink into the ocean. Hell-looo sunset; THERE you are! Wow. “The world can be a beautiful place”, we say to each other. Feeling in perfect harmony with our environment.

And …. “hey, SNAP out of it, girl!” Okay, okay, back to reality.

Reality being, that neither from my home in Haarlem nor from my home in Singapore I’m able to see unblocked sunsets. Not really:-(.

My 10 best pictures from Sydney skies

From our high up apartment in Sydney, we DID have a good view of the sky. Which often was beautiful.

Here are my 10 best pictures from the sky over Sydney, Australia:

I love your fantasy sunset scenario.
But next best, I love the drama of your sunset photos in Australia.
Probably the best sunset I’ve ever seen was on Hainan Island, China.
And I confess, we get some incredible sky views here in Vancouver.

That dream sounds quite nice : )

Canada has AMAZING sunsets…even mores in the West I find, like Melanie wrote. They are stunning.

Although I lived in Montreal, I never really saw it as a sunset-place. I did see some nice ones there though.
