Travel Quote of the Day #1

September 9, 2014

There it is; the first in a series of quotes! Mainly travel quotes, but also more general ‘life’ quotes.

From time to time I will publish a quote here and explain wether I agree or not and what it means to me.lemons and limoncelloOk, I made that up, the limoncello part;-). I just love limoncello and I never drink lemonade. Potato potato, I say…

Back to the quote.

Universally applicable and wise advice, in my book. I can not say that I always succeed in this. There are circumstances where you get buried under a ton of lemons, not able to turn (it) around anymore. But normally I succeed reasonably well in it and it makes my life so much better! It also helps me to enjoy my travels. Now I think of it, I remember a couple of times when I was not able to make the lemonade. Read about one of them here; be prepared: there were some tears involved;-).

How about you? What do you think of this proverb and advice? Do you agree with it? Does it help you in your approach of things? When was the last time you turned lemons into lemonade? What did you do?

I must admit I’m not always the best at looking at the bright side of life. Since I got sick last year I’ve been better at being grateful for all that I have and learning to stress less about the little things in life.

So besides loosing weight (if I understood you correctly), this horror experience further also brought you extra gratefulness. A small silver lining then;-).

My life is going so well, I have very little dark sides these days. Sometimes feel guilty over all this happiness.
But I agree with the saying. Mine was: if you have to compare your life (or fill anything else) with that of others, at least compare the good sides of your life to the bad sides of the others, not the other way around. Emphasize the good things of your life today and disregard the bad things. One day it might change and you have to refocus and find other good aspects of the new situation.

Very wise variation, Greetje. But then you ARE very wise with a really health attitude towards life. I admire and envy you for that, even though I have my own wisdom too;-).

Please don’t feel guilty about being happy! What’s the point of that? At least enjoy it fully.
