Ice Cream in winter

March 13, 2014

It was a really cold day when I explored Insa-Dong in Seoul, yet I decided to buy me some ice cream. Soft-ice cream, to be precise, which I don’t even like. So why then, you may wonder.

Because of the cone, people, it’s all about the cone!!!
Technically I think it is not even a cone. Or should I say it is way more then a cone? A double cone? A U-cone? A boomerang-cone?

See for yourself:

Walking through Insa-dong, you will easily spot the ice cream shop because of all the weirdly shaped cones, hanging inside and outside.

It is a teeny-tiny shop, decorated in a very unexpected way. People are queueing up to get their ice cream here.
Before you reach the guy at the handle, you will have paid already at another guy and picked a cone in a shape that suits your fancy. The guy at the end then first fills up one end…..
…. after which he fills up the other end. He stuffs a lot of ice cream in there, quite far into the cone/tube.
And outside you are, with your -in my case- J-shaped cone with a whole lotta ice-cream in it.

After taking a picture, I tasted it (nothing special, just regular soft ice cream) and tossed the whole thing. I was already freezing my butt of, so no way that I was gonna eat a liter of soft ice that I don’t even like!

But it was fun to see how it worked and what it looked like up close and personal.

Verdict: ideal for couples that love soft ice cream, preferably on a warm day. Isn’t it romantic, to eat together from one ice cream?! Also great for couple-selfies!
