Trick Eye Museum Seoul

February 24, 2014

So we went to the Trick Eye Museum, according to Tripadvisor the number 1 attraction in Seoul.

Nevertheless our high-end hotel had no clue what that museum was, let alone where it was, so there we had a bit of a challenge;-).

Luckily I found an address on the web. The concierge of our hotel kindly translated that and gave it to a taxi driver.

With his TomTom we came close, but finally he just kept searching and circling around. At one point he gave up and gently threw us out.

I started asking people in the streets, who as usual fled the other way (since they don’t speak english). But….in a shop one of the girls behind the counter had heard of the museum and knew where it was!!! Without hesitation she rushed out to lead us the way.

That was so sweet. She was not wearing a coat, while it was freezing and even a bit snowing! Not speaking english she guided us to the museum.

It was a saturday, so I guess that that’s why it was very, very crowded. This made taking pics quite difficult. Despite that we succeeded to take several fun ones.

It is a museum of optical illusion and the whole fun is to take pics of each other.

Tacky, kitschy, touristy? Sure….Still fun though!;-)

Here are our pictures:

Have you ever visited a museum like this one? Which illusion of the above works best in our pictures?

ha ha! What fun! Some of these were really funny! The one of your dancing..the guy is looking right at your crotch!

That bank vault one looks really good. I still can’t figure out what is real and what is just paint in that photo.

What did Obama have to say? ; )

I’ve never been to a place like that but would love to visit.

    bisous

I told my dance partner to look the other way, but he did not listen…LOL.

Obama and me, I’m afraid that is top secret;-).

Yes, we had a lot of fun!

Looks like so much fun! I would definitely like to visit such a place! I could not help laughing at some of the photos (particularly the one where you’re dancing with a macho looking man).

This is really good. Some tricky pictures are better than other. Most of the paintings don’t work as magically as for instance you sitting on the stairs with the pool. I know how the vault works but I cannot figure out the one where Frits is sitting in the air with Leonardo da Vinci. My favourite one is where you play peek-a-boo with the guy in his underpants hahaha.

Yes, that one is funny, right? I am not gonna give away how big it was;-)!

Frits? Also not giving away that secret. Think outside the box.

Yes, some ‘work’ pretty well, don’t they? Even for ourselves some were surprising once we looked at them.
