Yesterday we walked around River Hongbao and admired the beautiful lanterns and displays on The Float@Marinabay.
As I explained yesterday, there are also daily performances on a stage on the Float. And just next to the Float, in front of the tribunes, are chinese handicrafts and asian street food.
Let’s have a look:

Let’s have a look:

| There are balloons for sale, like this horse-balloon. |
![]() |
| You can buy various sorts of light accessories, like this horse-ears-tiara. |
![]() |
| Then there is a huge tent with street food, named Food Street;-). I love the little cloud lanterns. I would love them at home and know where to buy them online, but they are not cheap. |
![]() |
| ….Yunnan food… |
![]() |
| …..BBQ fish…. |
![]() |
| ….bamboo rolls stuffed with rice… |
![]() |
| Here we see the rolls after they are steamed. |
![]() |
| I don’t know what is in the grass baskets, topped with a cherry…. |
![]() |
| Sea cucumber on the left and giant shrimps on the right??? |
![]() |
| Tomatos and strawberry’s. |
![]() |
| Hokkaido cakes. And of course there is a lot more food to choose from. Bon appetit! |
![]() |
| This booth drew my attention, because of the girls in tribal attire. |
![]() |
| They are from a certain region in South China and are promoting their culture, tribal jewelry and costumes. |
![]() |
| I love their looks; gorgeous! |
![]() |
| I tried to talk to the girls, but they did not speak english. If I understood it correctly they come from the province Wunan. Or is Yunnan? |
![]() |
| They gave me this free promo material. Pretty pictures in it, but the text is all in Chinese;-). |
![]() |
| Anyway, the dot marks the place where they come from. |
![]() |
| In the book we see different tribal costumes. |
![]() |
| This is another picture from the brochure. There are some clothes like these for sale at River Hongbao, I think. |
![]() |
| Instead of clothes, I bought me a Tribal Barbie, dressed like the chinese girls that were present. |
![]() |
| They have a large variety of these dolls for sale at River Hongbao, all dressed differently. |
![]() |
| They only cost SGD 10! Highly recommended! |
Oh, and there is also a fair with fun rides and children’s activities.
In other words: River Hongbao is good for an evening of fun, food and entertainment for the whole family. It is still on this week; be sure not to miss it!
Do you like Asian food? Which food above appeals the most to you? What about Barbie dolls? I had at least a dozen when I was young. I still have most of them. Strange for a grown-up?

What a delightful virtual ‘walk’ around the area. I’m longing for warm summer evenings after looking at your images!
Thanks for walking along, Rosalind;-). Being in freezing Seoul at the moment, I long for summer myself!
Those girls in tribal costumes are such beauties! They look like belonging to Hmong group. I would definitely have bought one of the dolls too. At home I have a few ones in different costumes - Indian, Japanese, Russian. That would be a nice addition to my collection.
I thought this would be your cup of tea, Olga, and it seems I was right. How cool that you also have dolls at home. I have one from India too;-).
Those gals in the tribal costumes looked incredible. Like they just walked off a movie set.
I do like Chinese food, but I make it myself and my husband tells me the food in China is not remotely like it. So I guess I like North American Chinese and Thai food. : )
I was a huge fan of barbies. I still play with my nieces with them when I get a chance.
bisous
Suzanne
And does he prefer your chinese food or China chinese food? How funny that you play with Barbies with your nieces;-)!
