The W Singapore. Part 4

December 13, 2013

So we explored the glowing jungle theme of the W Singapore, had a peek in the AWAY Spa and admired the decor in the restrooms.

I am saving the most extravagant and amazing part for my fifth and final post about this hotel.

That means that the art in the hotel and the High Tea that we enjoyed is gonna be covered in this fourth article about the W Singapore.

Let’s first look at the art. Cara, the W’s insider, told me that a lot of the art in this hotel belongs to the privative art collection of the owner of the hotel. His taste seems quite eclectic and contemporary.

Look e.g. at this giant dog!

Simone is not tall, but still, the dog is really, really huge!;-)

I love this cassette-tape art!

The next work matches very well with these lights. Together they create a mysterious ambiance, don’t you think?

How about these shoe-bookstands? Cool!

Or this peacock mirror?

The next work reminded me of the pop art from Roy Liechtenstein, but it seems to be from a young Chinese artist.

The following work fits well with the floral ceiling pattern.

There is a lot more art at the W Singapore; this is just a selection. What do you think? Do you like it?

Then it’s now time for some serious High Tea !!!

Do you remember my disclaimer in my first article about the W Singapore?

“Disclaimer: I was invited to visit the W Singapore with a friend. We received a tour in the hotel and a high tea. We were not asked for anything in return, not even to write about the hotel. My posts about the W Singapore -as well as the ones about the other W hotels, btw- are purely initiated and written from my personal enthusiasm. “

Well, here are some pictures from the high tea that we were given. It was simply delicious! Wow!

The high tea is served in a birdcage; cool!
I looooooved the cream and the lemon curd! Mmmmmm
And these macaroons were yummmm!
Savoury snacks.
They taste as good as they look!

You get a free flow of coffees and teas of your choice, and a whole lot of savory and sweet bites. They all tasted delicious. I am normally not into high tea’s, but I will definitely come back for this.

I highly recommend it; you will have a lovely time!

Are you a high tea lover? Where did you have your nicest high tea ever?

Seriously….I’m so hungry now! This looks AMAZING! I want to go. Their presentation is gorgeous.

I love having high tea. I lived in England for a while and really developed a taste for tea. So bad in fact that I had a hard time kicking it. When I lived there I could easily drink 2 pots of tea on my own. That is like 12 cups of tea! I decided to stop drinking tea because it was staining my teeth. Now I just drink hot water like a proper old lady! LOL I will still drink it though if I go for high tea which me and my girlfriend often do.

When I lived in BC on Vancouver Island in Victoria it is known for the British heritage and the Princess Hotel, a very grand and old hotel offers a proper (and expensive) High Tea. That is one of the best I’ve ever had. I should also mention that it comes with your own butler that stands by making sure your tea is hot and poured correctly etc. Very Dowton Abbey style : )

    bisous

Hahaha…hungry…LOL! But yes, it was really excellent! Varied, delicious, a lot.

Yeah, hotels like your Princess Hotel sound like a good place for a proper high tea and these things are very nice for some quality time with a girlfriend.

I once had high tea with a butler too, but cannot recall where exactly. I think it was in Malaysia, somewhere. They also have some British heritage here and there in Malaysia.
