And thus we were treated like special guests.
Now I had seen a picture on the hotel’s Instagram of a special edition sneaker. It was a special edition from a collaboration between the W Hong Kong and PONY sneakers.

| Don’t you just already love love love the box?! In the left bottom corner you see that it is a collaboration sneaker. The two guys are the PONY designers. |
But let’s be clear here; no matter how fun this shoebox is, my interest obviously was in the sneakers!;-)
Look at them;how special and funky are they?!
Over the top? Yeah, totally. Too much? Maybe for you, but definitely not for me! Me loves colors and me loves glam and glitter.
The crystals are de-clickable, ain’t that cool?
The sneakers come with shoelaces in all the colors that are on the shoes and with a baggie with spare-crystals.
I simply HAD to have these sneakers! Ok, let’s see; how to obtain them? Hm, apparently they come with a special hotel package. Because the W Hong Kong exists five years, they have a so-called Starstruck Package, that includes the sneakers.
I felt a month in the hotel might be a good enough reason, maybe, to be entitled to a pair. So I hinted the hotel on their Instagram. But the answer was resolute: no, sorry, only with a Starstruck package.
Too bad, I was a bit disappointed, but well, nothing to do about it.
The sneakers however stayed on my mind during the next weeks. I wanted them….badly!
Over the weeks we got to know some of the staff a bit more personal, in particular Charlie, the W insider, and Maggie, one of the Welcome agents.
Towards the end of my stay I decided to do something I never do: I decided to more or less beg for the shoes. I reasoned that one month was the equivalent of a whole lotta Starstruck nights, so that it was not such an outrageous request.
Ofcourse I knew that I had no ‘right’ at all to receive the sneakers, I just hoped on some goodwill, kindness and generosity.
And guess what? On my last day I was surprised by Maggie, Charlie and manager James. I got a pair of PONY sneakers!!!! Woohoo!
I was happy as a child; could not stop smiling. Put them on my feet immediately and contemplated sleeping in them. Really? Noooo, but you get the picture.

| With manager James. See me wearing the sneakers? |
I already thanked these three people in abundance, but one more time then: “Maggie, Charlie and James, thanks so much!!!. I’m very happy with my sneakers.”
Did you ever ‘beg’ for something the way I did? Or do you find that ‘not done’?
And what about my sneakers; do you like them?

They are really cool! I like them, all those colours and rainstones…They are really worth little bit of begging from your side 🙂 Lucky you
