We told you about the very famous Philippino blogger BryanBoy, but he was certainly not the only celebrity there.
Well, our question was answered as the evening progressed: the crowd had come to catch a glimpse of the star line up of celebrities that had been organized.
The celebs were first placed on a spot in front of the store for a media moment, then they were escorted in and finally through the store to another area.
Every time we heard the crowd yelling and screaming and all the camera’s clicking, we knew a celeb had arrived.
We saw actor and model Daniel Henney,
… Chinese supermodel Liu Wen (a.o. Victoria’s Secret),
She is very tall and extremely beautiful. Here we see here with China’s most famous fashion blogger Han Huohuo:
Actresses Sheila Lim and Zoe Tay showed up:

| Middle of the three we see actress Zoe Tay. I loved her look with her funky hair. |

| Sheila Sim seemed really friendly, but I am not a fan of her look: a longish winter sweater, high wide boots and ultrashort, disappearing leather shorts….hm, weird combo. |
There was another model, Japanese supermodel and blogger Yoshiko Kris-Webb aka TokyoDame. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post she seemed good friends with fellow blogger BryanBoy.
She was wearing a gorgeous long dress and was genuinely friendly.
Then there was Daryl Chang, Fashion Editor at Preview Magazine from the Philippines. She had quite a distinguishing, funky look with her blond hair and severe black outfit.

Events like this one are great opportunities to see and be seen, but also for networking. People attend for different reasons. And that shows.
Remarkable that evening was one young guy named Stanley. He runs a website and was clearly there to promote himself and his website. He brought his own photographer and it seems that his goal was to get shots of himself next to each and every celeb.

I am not sure what to think of his approach. Should I admire and applaud him for not giving a s**t and just be in everybody’s face if that’s what will help his site? Or do I dislike this behavior that is solely focussed on effect and shameless self promotion?
Rationally I say: “You go, Stanley! Good for you!”.
Emotionally….. I dislike it.
Even more after him being very, very fast to ask Sylvia and me to send him those pictures we took that have him on it. And never to thank us for the time and effort we took to generously send them to him.
No, then my friend Sylvia from 40+style. Her interest in people is genuine and so are the contacts and conversations that she has on an evening like this. I admire and applaud her for that.
Here we see her with TokyoDame,
…and with Daryl Chang,
Her small chats with them, BryanBoy and others were real, not strategical nor promotional. I guess I prefer that; authenticity rocks!!!
In tomorrow’s post we see how the evening enrolled; stay tuned. Party time!
How do you feel about (self-)promotion? Are you any good at networking?

I would be horrible at this. Way too shy and intimidated and honestly that is a bit too much for me. Even when TIFF is here and all the celebrities are around and I could get photos with some actors I don’t do it. We were shopping next to Nichole Kidman and Naomi Watts in a lingerie store in Soho. There was only us and them in the store. They were right there and I didn’t want to make a scene letting them know that I knew they were celebrities. It just always seemed a bit tacky to me. I understand why people do it, but I can’t.
bisous

I am SO with you on this one, Suzanne. I would respond the same way. I find it not nice towards them. They must be bothered all the time. And I also find it sort of self-humiliation to behave so starstruck. I was happy to be at that event and be able to just observe and be amazed and amused;-).
