Gardens by the Bay 2013

May 25, 2013

Do you remember Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay?

I wrote about them 1. here, 2. here, 3. here, 4. here, 5. here and 6. here. This was a series of posts in august 2012, right after they opened.

About a month ago I went back. During daytime and at night. To walk, for a photoshoot and for dinner and drinks.

People walking on the SkyBridge between the Super Trees.

A lot has changed in 9 months time.

The main changes are the enormous growth of plants and trees. Amazing how fast that goes in a tropical climate like Singapore’s!
As I expected and predicted, the Gardens by the Bay become more attractive and interesting as they mature and grow older.

Have a look around:

What a lush, green area, isn’t it? And it is huge!
Glass houses/ conservatory’s and super Trees.
With the Flyer in the background.

Going towards the evening:

New is e.g. the tree top restaurant in the highest Super tree. Do you see it? It has two floors. The top one is an outdoor rooftop bar.
Here you see the restaurant very clearly. It is a new branch from IndoChine. The food was good, the service very amateuristic. We heard this complaint from many friends that went there as well. Still, the views are spectacular, so i would not let the service stop you;-).
The glorious Marina Bay Sands hotel.

And at night:

The lights and colors make it really fairy-tale-like.
Our condo is on the left side in the background.
Looking down on the top of one of the Super Trees, a sight that you rarely get.

Inside the restaurant and in the rooftop bar:

Our husbands.
My friend Sylvia and I, having a lovely glass of bubbly. Cheers!
Oh, by the way, she wrote a nice post about our dinner evening there, with great pictures. Be sure to check it out!

So I can strongly recommend a visit to the Gardens by the Bay. Both during the day as at night. The hot hours of the day are better to be avoided for walking around, although you could use those hours to visit one or both of the conservatories. It is cooler there then outside.

Have you visited the Gardens already? What do you think of them? Do you prefer Singapore’s Botanical Gardens? And how was your dining experience at IndoChine high up in the sky? Tell me about it; I would love to hear from you!

Thanks, Gina, and yes, it is a very photogenic place. Do you plan to visit it yourself one day?

Your photos provide enough evidence that this place is a wonderful spot to visit at day time or night time. The structures look brilliant with lights on against the dark and wide skies… The entire place looks unique! Thanks for sharing this post :)
