Halloween 2014 is officially over. Awwwww…. too bad! But we had so much fun. Our Halloween costumes and make up totally rocked!
We went to Clarke Quay Singapore where we were in the company of thousands of others, many of whom were dressed up.
We were asked to pose for or with people all the time. Luckily we did not forget to take some pictures ourselves as well;-). Here are our pictures….
We chose to go as Day of the Dead Hippies. Say what? Does that even exist? Uh, I guess not…but we were anyway. Our outfits were hippie-style: floral, flowers, maxi-dress, messy wig for Frits. Combined with half-faced Day of the Dead make up.
When you looked at us from one side we looked completely natural/normal. If you looked from the other side we looked totally skulled.
Many people wore skull or Day of the Dead make up.
Some were really good!
I think we made quite an impact, because:
- we were wearing matching make up as a couple
- the half face effect was appealing, well done and special
- the combination with the colorful, happy, not creepy at all hippie look was surprising
My absolute favorite looks of the night were these two; she looks beautiful as Neytiri from the movie Avatar, he is fantastic as Gru from Despicable Me, with hunchback and Minion and all.
I also liked this Sally from The Nightmare before Christmas. She poses with closed eyes, since she has painted eyeballs on her eyelids. Super fun!
There were at least 10 to 20 Mario Bros (and gals) bar hopping.
As I predicted in my post about where to celebrate Halloween in Singapore and what to wear, there were several Malificents roaming around.
The best one was a man! Very well done!
I had wanted to go to Clarke Quay with our best friends in Singapore, all in costume, as we did some years ago. But they did not feel for it this year. Imagine my surprise when they suddenly showed up! Not in costume, but still; I was thrilled!
And hey, nothing a bit of photoshopping can’t fix, right?!
Some people wore animal masks. Brave, in Singapore, with the heat and humidity!
This one was very, very creepy ugly. (on the left)
I love the costume of these people (on the right; unicorn and dinosaur); normal clothes and an animal mask. Sitting at the bar, they created such a weird scenery. Very cool!
Frits and I talked afterwards about our favorite outfits from that night. Turns out that he is not that impressed by people wearing a mask. He likes to see their faces and he prefers to see that they were creative with make-up. I think he feels that otherwise it is too ‘easy’. I understand where he’s coming from, but I do not necessarily agree.
How about you? What kind of Halloween looks do you like? Which was the best one you saw this year? And what were you wearing?
Do you agree that our Halloween costumes rocked? And what do you think of our pictures? (I edited most of them with PicMonkey)

I loved you outfits. You did a FANTASTIC job on the make-up. Brilliant really.
We decided to do something totally different this year and went to see a burlesque show. So we didn’t dress up at all but we did see lots of other people dressed up. Some people really put lots of effort into their costumes and they were great. Overall though I liked the burlesque dancers’ costumes the best : )
bisous
Suzanne
Thanks, Suzanne. Wow, a burlesque show, that sounds indeed like something very different. Was the show good? I have never seen a burlesque show. Dita von Teese’s seems tasteful.Ah well, one day I hope to see one with my own eyes.
Marvellous!! Indeed you were spectacular. You are living a fun life Anja. And in a months time I get to see you again… Yeah!
Greetje
Thanks, Greetje. Sometimes my life indeed is fun, but I think no more or less than yours or anyone elses. Looking forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks!
