Kerala Art

Apart from the Kochi Biennale, there was also other art to be found along the way.

First we saw these murals, while driving by in our taxi, on our way to our backwater tour.

I stopped, got out and took some pics.

They did seem a bit grim and political here and there, so I was not surprised to find out (thank you, Google), that they were made by students belonging to the SFI (Students Federation of India, Unit Kerala). If you go to their website, you stare right in the face of Che Guevarra with the text “Study and Struggle. Independence Democracy Socialism.” Not your average fun, esthetic art murals here. No, there undoubtedly is a message. Not so clear which ones for me.
Still some nice drawings amongst them.

Something completely different was the artistically painted fallen tree trunk that we came across while walking along the seaside where the Chinese fishingnets are.
It apparently was painted by artists during the Biennale. Very, very fun and cool!

But who or what is Art of STU?
Amazing, isn’t it?
Yes, I am a goat, yet I love a good piece of art too, you know!

Also at the Vasco da Gama square is this big fish painted on the ground; nice!

Another cool and artistic place is Kashi Art Cafe; both the murals in the streets around it as the art on display inside the cafe:

We had a very nice lunch here.
Frits liked the works of this artist very much. Sculptures made up from tiny persons.

I love these neon colored bright murals!

And this one has to be my favorite!

Quite an inspiring place, right?! We loved it.
