Boutique Hotel Pousada Tauma: paradise in Goa

We went to Goa for a couple of days of relaxation and beach.

The hotel we chose was Pousada Tauma in Calangute, a small, exclusive boutique hotel.

The  ‘faces’ of the hotel are owner Neville and his main staff member Matthew.

What Neville (on the right, next to Frits) has built up here is beautiful and unique. The villa’s, structures, gardens, pool, pond….The restaurants, the beach area…all very tasteful and private.

Matthew is worth his weight in gold. A better hotel employee is unimaginable. He is smart, kind, fast and totally focussed on the needs and well being of the guests.
In tropical gardens, around a pool, lie 13 guest rooms in a small number of villas.

Let me show you around. Here is the entrance to ‘our’ room:

The suite has a main (bed-)room, a bathroom and a toilet.

Both in the interior as in the gardens and buildings, we see several rustic, artistic items. Probably by local craftsmen or artists, sometimes quirky, sometimes old/antique.

Mosaic bathtub and shower.

The tiny pond next to our door was filled with frogs.

All rooms are just a few steps away from the pool.

Aha, these will be our beds, over the next few days;-). Luckily for us, there were only a few other guests Who ofcourse were not there all the time. Making the whole experience feel very private, almost as if we were alone here. Very peaceful; we loved it!
Neville’s policy is that it is a hotel for adults only. He feels that in such a small place, even one child running around can ruin the serene peace and quiet. And right he is….

The villas are surrounded by a lot of flora and fauna. The whole place is landscaped beautifully.

Let’s look at that more closely in tomorrow’s post, shall we?!
