Pune, part 14: pimp my ride

Monday, September 10, 2012

So I like to recycle, upcycle, downcycle, decorate, beautify aka pimp or pimpify, as I call it jokingly.
I tend to put flowers, glitter, decorations and so on on everything. Be it my bike, my car, my house, my garden....whatever.

Not surprising that I love to see that also when done by others.

In principle I find cars utterly boring and ugly, but if someone gives it a personal touch, something colorful, crazy and over the top, I can love it.

Here is my 'collection' of pimped rides that I ran into in Pune so far:

We saw silverplated carriages like this one in Mumbai too, but there they were pulled by horses. This one had other horsepowers;-).

Nice peacock motif.

What a great seats, under that parasol!

This is what I meant: it is motorized; a car!

This one is elephant-themed.

They use trucks like this one e.g. for water supply. Many people and households are not connected to a water system, so you collect your water with buckets from a truck like this.

Hope you enjoyed the ride;-). Have a nice day.

  1. Hi Anja, I stumbled on your blog from Sylvia's 40+style blog.
Wonderful!!! I grew up in Pune, but don't live there now. And it is sooooo nostalgic to read about Ganesh-utsav, to see these beautiful pics, and the photo journalism of inner streets of Pune, and all the places you visited there.
I must thank you for giving me this pictorial experience!!!
Will explore more on your blog....

Thank you for reading my blog and for your kind words. Also nice to hear from someone who has lived in Pune! Where do you live nowadays?
