So far I have not seen many other white people in Pune. Yes, of course, in our hotel, which is an international 5 star hotel, we do see people from everywhere. But in town....not so much.
We see mainly Punakars, I presume, or at least Indians. Here are some pictures:
| Reading or sleeping in a park. |
| The colorful saris are spectacular. |
| As is India as a country, Pune is a city in transition. Old and new are to be seen side by side, like in this pic. Jeans next to a sari. |
| Around a temple complex were several beggars, poor, old and/or sick people sitting on the street. From some their arm went out begging at every bypasser. Difficult to watch. |
| This woman looked spectacular; the beauty and intensity of the colors she wore was enormous! On the next pic you see her a bit closer up. |
| Saris come in really every imaginable color and pattern/design! The fabrics are gorgeous, often with glitters, beads, goldthread and so on. |
This girl was so cute and pretty. She did not move an inch and did not give me a smile or a hand wave, no matter what her father said. She only moved her eyes, to follow Frits.
| As I wrote before, I feel a lot of compassion and sadness about the fate of many animals here. But I have to admit, that I don't envy a lot of people either. Men like him have to work SO hard! |
| Congested, narrow alleys and chaotic traffic, still it goes well most of the time, apparently. Amazing! |
Hope you enjoyed your meet-up with some local folks;-). Till tomorrow?
