OOTD in Seoul

Sunday, April 13, 2014

Say what?

I said #OOTD.

A month ago I did not even know what that was. Googling the term, I found out what it means : Outfit Of The Day. A term used a lot by fashion bloggers.

Today I feel for a fashionista post , so I am sharing an OOTD with you from when I was in Seoul.

Me next to The Iron Lady. Noooo, not Margaret Thatcher; this statue is The Goddess of Fortune.

It was bitterly cold in Seoul. Living in Singapore, I don't possess a whole range of winter clothes. Actually I do, just not in Singapore. My winter clothes all are in Holland.

So before going to Seoul, I purchased some warm clothes that I can mix and match. Quite limited, but fine for a month or so.

That day I was wearing my stellar, cosmic matching legging and top (black with multi-colored glitters = nightly sky with stars;-)).

Ofcourse underneath I was wearing an extra layer to stay warm.

My W/Pony sneakers went well with the theme, with their dozens of de-clickable crystals (crystals = stars and moons; come on, peeps, you gotta have some imagination, right?!)

My 'tunnel'-scarf with the cheerful tassels gives some fun and color to this look.

I bought hot pink horse earrings in Hong Kong, but one of them broke:-(.

During my stay in Seoul, I stumbled upon exactly the same earrings, only in white. I am wearing them here. They are very small, but really funky upon closer look.

Over my stellar legging and top, I was wearing my soft, fluffy polar-bear coat; I love this coat although it is not as warm as it looks. Layers, people, layers! Lots of them, in fact;-).

Being the queen of accessorizing (ahem), I pimped up the coat with some cool brooches.

The past half year I found several brooches made from fabric, often from felt. Some with embroidery. Really nice!

The astronaut fits the stellar, cosmic theme perfectly. And see how the left brooch has embroidery on it?

Oh, and do you see my nails? I brought only one bottle of nail polish in my suitcase: emerald green. The second week I got bored. So I used scotch tape to create these diagonally half painted nails. Gotta be creative, right?

I was lucky enough to find some more brooches in Seoul!

I also found this 'eye'-brooch and eye-ring in different shops on different days. They match; cool!

This tiny shop was wonderful; they sold the craziest, quirkiest accessories that were totally up my alley.

I would have loved to buy this whole board with brooches; I adore many of them!

Several of the earrings are cool too! And how about a Barbie-doll necklace or a Playmobil-chain-necklace?!
In the meantime I am back in warm, sunny Singapore. Happy to dress lightly and to have access to all my clothes, nail polishes and accessories here. Living in a small apartment I have way less stuff then I have back home in the Netherlands, but at least it is a lot more then when I am traveling!;-)

Are you a modest, light packer like me? Or do you bring half your wardrobe on a one-week trip?
Do you wear brooches? What is your to-go-to accessory? Hats, rings, scarfs?

  1. I like your OOTD :D The sneakers are super and those brooches are so cute *_* ! It took me a while too to figure out what does OOTD mean :D ! Then I learned FOTD and HOTD XD. I will now see ebay if they have a Barbie doll necklace *_*!

    1. Friend of the Day? Hair of the Day? Tell me! Am I right?

Sometimes they have sort of miniature barbie dolls; these would be even better for a necklace! And their is someone who makes the coolest jewelry from original Barbiedoll-parts; very funky!

  2. I am not sure whether my comment was saved or just vanished as it happens sometimes. So, will write again, just in case. I like your cosmic theme outfit, Anja! Those "stars in the nightly sky" look so lovely. And all those brooches you got there, they are fantastic! But of course, most of all I like the ones with cat theme. Would like to have them in my collection too. I do have some brooches but more often I wear necklaces.

  3. I adore those brooches! I love quirky unique stuff like that. I'm sure I would have loved that store.

Your outfit is great but it is the pops of colour in the shoes and scarf that really make it "you". Looks comfy too.

I am a notorious horrible packer. To stop that I now often pack outfits that I take photos of before I go. This doesn't always help since I hate repeating things when I travel, but at least it ensures that I'm well dressed and I have all the accessories for each outfit. When I go to France I'm going to try to pack "lighter" LOL wish me luck! I have a feeling I will need it : )

    bisous

    1. I know that my winter suitcase does not represent me or my taste best. Lots of blacks and (off-) whites. It just happened to be what was available and comfortable (indeed), warm and nice. But you are very right, that normally colors are more my thing;-).

I dislike being limited in my options during a holiday too, but I learned to not care too much about it anymore;-).

Ok, wishing you tons of good luck then, paired with some minimalistic vibes! Hahaha...
