Christmas in Singapore 2017
As a lover of lights, colours, decorations, kitsch and camp, Christmas time is right up my alley. Lucky for me, street decorations during Christmas time are a big deal in Singapore.
Now I’m always in Holland during Christmas, so you would think I would miss out on the pretty decorations in Singapore. BUT….they start -ridiculously- early with Christmas in Singapore. This year as early as beginning of october! Which suits me fine, since that means that I get to enjoy the decorations before taking off to the Netherlands. Yay!
One of the best areas to enjoy Christmas decorations in Singapore is along Orchard Road.
Along a stretch of a few kilometers there’s lights and trees everywhere, both on the street as well as inside the many malls.
Christmas along Orchard this year disappoints
I don’t know what’s going on, but the decorations this year are disappointing.
The mall with this year’s best decorations is clearly Orchard Gateway, as far as I’m concerned. Santa from Space; hilarious!
Better next year?!
Since the mid-autumn lights at Gardens by the Bay were also disappointing this year, it makes one wonder what is the matter.
Is there an economic crisis in Singapore that I’m not aware of? Do the government and the entrepreneurs have a different policy regarding spending money on these events?
I really hope that both events – mid-autumn in Gardens by the Bay and Christmas on a Great Street- return all improved in 2018!
Marvel at the decorations of past years

Soon I’m going to put up my oh so pink Christmas tree and decorate it with all my gorgeous ornaments. Exciting!
How about you? Are you putting up a tree? A real one?
