About the artist
Manolo Valdes was born in 1942 in Valencia, Spain. He now lives and works both in New York and Madrid.
His work has been displayed in museums all over the world and is part of many a private collection.
Often the term Pop Art is used when referring to his art.
The large scale busts, made out of metals like iron and brass, work well in an open space like Orchard Road.
They are OK, but I can’t say that they are really my cup of tea. Still I enjoyed getting to know Manolo Valdes and his busts.
This free al fresco exhibition is brought to the public by Opera Gallery, housed in ION Orchard. This art gallery often lines the whole stretch of Orchard Road with sculptures, usually by famous artists.
It definitely brings more diversion and excitement to my strolls along Orchard, so Opera Gallery makes me very happy with their initiatives.
So what do you think? Do you like the women of Manolo Valdes?
