My previous post was about the fantastic and magical Villa Augustus in Dordrecht.
I visited that place with my friend Ans, as part of a short city trip to Dordrecht.
In fact, the trip was too short to really ‘cover’ Dordrecht. We just scratched the surface with our short walk.
Ah well, that just means that we’ll have to revisit this charming old town and that’s no punishment at all, is it?
Why a city trip Dordrecht
Why a city trip to Dordrecht you ask?
In the first place it is a good reason to visit Villa Augustus, ha ha ha!
But apart from that, Dordrecht is a city with a charming historic centre, filled with beautiful architecture.
It is a water city, meaning that you stroll along small harbours and lots of canals.
It is a good place for shopping too.
Another place that seems very interesting to me is Dordtyard. Unfortunately it was closed for summer. Bummer. Hopefully next time.
Photo-impression of the old city centre
The weather was quite challenging for photography the day we were in Dordrecht. Meaning that there was no sun.
Instead, the light was this kind of yellowish-green, uglifying everything and everybody. So it took me time to do some photo-editing afterwards to bring out the true beauty of Dordrecht. I think I succeeded reasonably well.
Let me show you around in old Dordrecht, okay?
In my next post I’m showcasing two special places in Dordrecht for a bite and a drink.
If you’re thinking about visiting Dordrecht, be sure to check out the Google map that I made. All the hotspots are on it. Handy!
