Sydney has several interesting musea and galleries. White Rabbit Gallery in Chippendale, Sydney, is definitely one of the more innovative and exciting ones.
Contemporary Chinese art; exciting and strange
The gallery is focussed on 21st century Chinese art, like these art works:
The White Rabbit Gallery spreads out over four floors and the whole set up is spacious.
I love it when a gallery has an unorthodox lay-out and way of displaying, instead of the usual, boring empty space with art on the walls. Some of the displayed works even went through ceilings and floors!
On the ground floor are an Asian restaurant and a small giftshop.
Currently: State of Play
The gallery has 400 artists in its collection and changes the exhibited works twice per year.
The ongoing exhibition is titled State of Play and is on until august 2015, so you can still catch it.
The works vary from themes coming from innocent children’s play to darker adult play and games;-).
This is some of the art that is now on display in the White Rabbit Gallery:
Several art works were quite explicit and with sexual connotations. Interesting though…
I really enjoyed my visit to the White Rabbit Gallery and highly recommend it. Be sure to check it out when you are in the neighbourhood!
