In Seoul’s case from the Namsan Tower aka N Seoul Tower, located on Namsan Hill.
The weird dark blue sky is actually caused by the sunscreen on the windows of the bus that I took to Seoul Tower;-).
Well, near, near….I did not find it that near, since the walk up to the tower was pretty steep.
Anyway, no choice other then to start walking. Along with many others.
It may not appear all that steep, but I can assure you that it was….
Fortunately the views gave a good reason to take a small break every 25 steps or so;-).
The walk goes along some parts of the ancient city walls.
Seoul Tower seems to define itself as an Urban Romantic Island, as the entry ticket says.
What does an Urban Romantic Island look like?
Well, they use different media for that. The two main ones are Heartshaped Chairs and Love Locks.
I wrote about Love Locks here. I like the concept, so I prepared a lock to hang around the tower somewhere. But…I left it in the hotel room:-(. Stupid!
Opposed to Singapore, where there is a tiny designated fence for the locks, Love Locks at Seoul Tower are a big thing. Unbelievable how many locks are hanging there!!!! It seems endless!
Quite impressive, don’t you think?!
There are several platforms around the base of the tower on different levels. On the highest one the locks are covering the fences around the platform.
On the lower one, the locks are hung to a row of metal ‘trees’ and to a steel heart.
I like this artwork of two hearts, filled with empty soda cans and plastic bottles. Cool!
But let’s get up in the tower, shall we?
I like the shadow of the tower in this picture.
The weather was gorgeous enough for beautiful pictures. Only the windows of the tower were quite dirty. Ah well, I’m sure you get the picture anyway.
Is this how you pictured Seoul? Densely populated, mountains, parks and a river?
To give you an idea of Seoul’s location:
Up in the tower the Love Theme of the Tower is still going strong:
Do you tend to go up in a city’s tower in order to see the city and understand it’s ‘map’?
What’s your idea about Love Locks? Have you attached any anywhere in the world?
