I was familiar with the biggest one of the two: the combined Scape and Youth Park, centers for youth and youth activities.
I blogged about the murals there a couple of years ago.
The nice thing about living two streets from here is that on my daily strolls, I pass by these creative places and see the graffiti pieces there all the time. That is extra nice, since they are painted over by the young artists regularly.
So it is as a continuously changing canvas; a changing exhibition. I never know what I will find!
Some pieces stay for a long, long time, others are painted over within days. Sometimes that is a good thing, e.g. if a piece that I like less gets painted over. Other times I am a bit sad, if a beautiful piece is painted over to be replaced by something ugly.
But overall it is wonderful that this scene is alive and evolving. That keeps it fresh.
In my post from some years ago, this building had other murals on it. I loved those way, way better then the ones of today. They are ok. But if you take a look at the previous ones, you probably understand why I preferred those.
The red bus is still there, like it was a couple of years back.
And so are the benches; some better looking then others.
But there are different graffiti’s on the walls, obviously.
On the Scape side we have e.g. this piece that I absolutely adore. It is from the very talented street artist Iamceno. He also did some murals in the new furniture store Fred Lives Here. Such a cool store; my article about it will be on this blog somewhere within the next month.
And then there is the other skatepark, in front of Somerset MRT and Orchard Central, that I did not know of before we moved here.
That place is used daily by skaters and graffiti-artists.
Although it is in grey tones, I do like this piece.
The deviled and the colors make this one cool.
OK, because of the colors, but this sort of pieces does not mean a lot to me.
I really, really LOVED this one, but found it gone within a few days:-(. Not cool!
Do not care for graffiti like this, despite the nice colors.
This one is quite nice, I think.
What do you think? Do you like this type of murals and graffiti? Which ones are your favorites?
