To be clear: this is NOT a sponsored post. (Read more in the disclaimer at the end of this article.) I just happen to love W hotels;-).
After my stay at the W Taipei, we stayed a whole month (!) at the W Hong Kong. There I befriended Maggie (Welcome Agent) and Charlie (W Insider). Via them and via Instagram, I was kindly invited by W Singapore’s Insider, Cara, to visit the W on Sentosa.
|Cara, W Singapore’s Insider, under one of the hotels whimsical Whisper Booths. More about those later on in this in a later article.|
I could bring along a friend, we would receive a tour around the hotel and a high tea to enjoy.
As a big fan of the W hotels, I gladly accepted Cara’s invitation!
The W in front of the hotel consists of butterflies and flowers.
That is related to the theme of the hotel: Glowing Jungle.
Jungle refers to Singapore’s and Sentosa’s past. Glowing refers to the urban development of the area nowadays.
This translates in an interior design full of nature elements: floral themes, the national orchid in shape and color, mushrooms, rosewood and so on.
There are sensory experiences in abundance, since the W always combines a theme with fun, comfort and glamour.
Let’s look around, shall we?
On every floor, when you exit the elevator, you immediately see a wall display of glass ‘Magic Mushrooms’. They are done in a different color on every floor.
Here you see me and my friend Simone in front of the green mushrooms:
The glass mushrooms are placed on metal ‘stilts’, as we can see in the following pictures.
Let’s look at the other colors.
I think the orange-red ones are my favorite. Which do you like best?
When we pass the mushrooms we walk through the corridors on which the hotel rooms are located.
There we find gorgeous chandeliers. Very floral, fitting the theme, of course.
The wall panel next to the chandelier is also interesting.
It looks like rocks, pebbles, right? Indeed. But when you touch them there is a surprise; they are felted balls!!!
That’s what I mean when I say ‘sensory experiences’ in this hotel. It’s not only a feast for the eyes, but all the different textures are also an adventure to touch and discover.
Look e.g. at the inside of the elevators.
The walls do not only have a floral theme, but they are in leather with relief. Pretty and unusual. You feel tempted and invited to go over the walls with your hands.
When you exit the elevator you see immediately the Magic Mushroom wall display, as I showed you. Another thing you come across there is a small sitting nook with a sofa and a standing lamp. That lamp is a bit different on each floor. Typical for the W hotels, giving you small surprises and discoveries all the time.
So one lamp has a bird on it, another not. One has one leaf on it, another has two.
Here and there you come across one-flower-displays on the walls.
Most hotels are standardized. Look around on one floor and room and you have seen them all. What I love about the W hotels is that they have small variations and surprises everywhere.
Look at the following nook.
There’s a lot going on, don’t you think? There is the gorgeous, leaf-shaped rocking chair. The nature themed carpet. The single flowers here and there on the walls. And see how the walls have a lot of different textures?
I end this post with some images of cloud-shaped lights. How sweet are they?!
And again a beautiful floral carpet!
My next post about the W Singapore will cover their spa area. Stay tuned for more!
Disclaimer: I was invited to visit the W Singapore with a friend. We received a tour in the hotel and a high tea. We were not asked for anything in return, not even to write about the hotel. My posts about the W Singapore -as well as the ones about the other W hotels, btw- are purely initiated and written from my personal enthusiasm.
