Let’s pick up where we left of with exploring Ocean Park, an old school theme park in Hong Kong.
Why ‘retro’ and ‘old school’? Well, it’s one of Hong Kong’s older theme parks and it looks different then your usual Disney Park and the likes.
In my first article about Ocean Park, I took you along in the cable cars and showed you the beautiful views over the sea and islands.
Let’s now look at the theme park itself. Stroll around and catch the vibe.
Being surrounded by the sea and named Ocean Park, it’s not surprising that the decor has a sea theme;-).
These creatures remind me a bit of the sculptures of Nikki De Saint Phalle.
Doesn’t this decor give you a retro feeling?
A bit tacky, just how I like it;-).
There are fish in every form and material:
Since Halloween was coming up at that time, there were Halloween decorations too:
Told ya, sports are dangerous!
Plenty of cliche photo ops with props:
These gals looked like props themselves. Nice!
As in most theme parks nowadays, there are musicians playing here and there. And there are ‘costumed characters’ walking around.
Since this is Asia, people are more interested in having their pic taken with these musicians and ‘actors’ then that they are really interested in what the person is doing or how he or she is dressed up. And of course most of them make the cliche V-sign when they strike a pose. Yawn….
By chance none of the people in these pics makes the infamous V-sign;-)
These musicians looked fantastic!
It was SO hot that day!!! I cannot imagine how it must have been to be in this panda suit!
But this little boy does make the V-sign!
For the rest there are fountains, mountains and ‘attractions’:
Frits is never really keen to go in all these attractions. I sometimes do, but during my month in Hong Kong I had a problem with my ear, causing a feeling of seasickness all the time. Not the ideal condition to enter swingy things, right?! But that was cool….there were other things to do and see.
My next post about Ocean Park, somewhere within the next two weeks, will highlight another part of this huge park. Stay tuned for more!
How about you? Do you like theme parks? Adventure parks? Disneyland? Legoland? Are you a thrill seeker? Faster, higher, more spins please?
